The Avengers couldn't just take the quickest route to defeating Thanos in one movie, because they were supposed to fail against him first time out. Sure Dr. Strange could have possibly cut Thanos' arm off and easily defeated him but the quickest route to defeat doesn't always make for the most interesting story. Thanos was supposed to be the Avengers greatest and most challenging villain but if he was defeated so easily then that wouldn't be the case anymore.

It cut through both a car and an alien arm in NYC. Strange cut through the car when he sent Banner away. Wong cut through the arm when he sent the monster to either a different planet or location.

I don’t disagree. But if that is such an important way of telling the story.... then don’t introduce arm chopping portals into the same movie that the ultimate bad guy had a powerful weapon on his hand.

Bad story telling.

And like I have said.... I really enjoy this movie. I’ve seen it 2 times in theaters and over 5 times at home already. But some of the writing is mindnumblingly bad.

Had that happened, the movie would've been five minutes long.

Also, what if that was one of the millions of outcomes Strange saw?

So again, Thanos needed to have collected all six Stones as it was the only outcome which they (the Avengers) would have won against him.

The only real Strange-related plot hole/inconsistency/mistake I still don't understand is how he survives when Iron Man blasts the hole into the side of the ship that sucks out Ebony Maw. I know he's a wizard and we're supposed to just assume he used some weird magic to breathe, but anytime he uses his abilities it manifests visually, and we never see any kind of orange or green construct on/around him. Not a big deal, just a surprising oversight.

Also, what about when Iron Man enters the ship for the first time? He got in with basically no air pressure difference.... but when they did the same thing later.... it sucked everybody out....

12 Million + outcomes.... which I kind of feel is a small number anyways. If he cut off his arm he could have sent it to a nearly infinite number of locations.... lol

Doctor Strange was never exposed to the vacuum of space. He was still within flow of outrushing cabin air for a short period of time. This allowed him to survive.

The big problem is that they should have never shown it happen to the other bad guy because it creates a plot hole.

I actually really enjoy the movie.... but some of the writing is suspect.

Edit - I agree about getting away from titan. Bringing the fight to thanos was something a 5 year old would think up. Not super smart super heroes like Stark and Strange.

As much as I think Strange is an idiot, that was Stark’s decision and in his defense, he reacted emotionally, which is kinda a theme of the film.

I liked Ebony Maw. He was perhaps a little verbose, almost poetic at times, hehe. It was sorta disappointing to see him check out relatively early. Still, I'm sure there's many more Children of Thanos to come in IW2.
