I was joking.

I do not want to see this thread devolve into political arguing, which almost always leads to total war between members.

And I don't even have any

Your question seemed rhetorical.

I still don't fully understand your buying habits and what you meant about ordering for next year so I figured I'll let you remain in your bubble

Yeah, cause it can't be new releases from next year as most films won't have release dates right now. So either he buys a year behind to watch the next year...

No bubble. I buy in bulk because it’s the best way to manage my budget and I work different shifts during the week so it’s only the weekend when I realistically have the chance to get my feet up and enjoy my films etc..

The downside is I am behind with a lot of films but there is always something to look forward too regardless. I just avoid spoilers and stick to my trustworthy magazines/websites and reviewers.

I am, yes. I buy everything blind. Not into checking films out first. It’s worked a treat. Can’t quite beat the ‘watching fresh’ approach. For example I’m watching Logan tonight. You guys will have seen it obviously.

The exception is Halloween and Creed 2 which I am going to see at the cinema with friends.

I'm usually a year or two behind on new releases too. I very rarely go to theaters anymore and I almost never buy new releases so it's either redbox/netflix disc rental or a sale somewhere.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong. I am hyped for the films, but the films I’m hyped for others have seen months ago!

Cinema wise, Halloween is my favourite horror of all time so i won’t quite have the patience for that.

To be honest, don’t know about you but I’m more content watching at home. I dont need the communal experience that most crave.

I love watching movies at home, both on the TV or the projector. I can smoke, I can drink, I can pause and I don't have to wear pants...what's not to love.

And in the odd coincidence category, the new Halloween will probably drag me into a theater too. I would ordinarily be okay waiting but I love the Halloween season and my entire family (well, the guys, anyway) are really amped to see it so we'll probably get an outing together.

So you're saying you bought 50 films but will not watch them until next year or that you bought them and they will not arrive until next year?

Yeah, I get that. I’m not a drinker or club person so it’s my escape from my troubles.

I love the Halloween season and Christmas. I watch 7 horror films in seven days starting Halloween week.

It’s cool that you are going to see it with friends, I won’t get away with that as I have already promised to see it with my sister. It’s her fault I am a horror nut as she let me watch horror films when she was babysitting me.

(Not the Exorcist though, I had to wait for that!

They will arrive next week. I already explained that. (So like I expected, you didn’t read my post) which suggests you are just trying to get a reaction from me.

Technically obtaining the content from "online somewhere" would pretty much mean methods that aren't exactly legal if it isn't available through those legit services. Whereas buying a used DVD/Blu-Ray/etc. is perfectly legal.

Not that I'm necessarily completely against those "online somewhere" methods as a last resort in the instances of people reacquiring something that they legitimately paid for and was pulled, or just isn't available legitimately in the first place (I believe in legitimately paying for content and supporting the studios, but it's on them to make the content available to buy and offer it in a manner that I'm willing to pay for, without ridiculous restrictions that allows them to take my access away at any time).

But it seems a little hypocritical IMO for you to be agreeing with and liking octagon's posts about the rights of the content owners to offer their content with whatever restrictions they wish while at the same time apparently condoning stealing that content if that is what is necessary to view it.

I was just pointing out that it's not gone forever. Right now we have services offering low-grade, shit horror films, watered down family content, etc. Most stuff should be around somewhere. If it isn't and someone absolutely has to have it there are always way to acquire it.

As a content owner, if I stop selling a design and someone makes one for personal use because they liked it so well - despite the fact I don't want it/offer it sold anymore, I don't care. I'm controlling the retail market - not a singular personal use. Now if it was widespread and being resold it's a problem, but a one off because they can't buy it anymore? Don't mind.

The question for me is how can I call myself a film fan and not have any popcorn on hand AND over the weekend no less?

I do not buy my movies with any intention to resell them. I could if I wanted to, contrary to your hyperbole. You can still sell discs for something as opposed to nothing for a used digital code. If I sold every title in my collection for an average price of just $1 each I would make $7,242. You would get exactly squat for your digital collection. But all of this is irrelevant as I doubt customers of digital content buy their content with any intentions to resell it, either.

If old movies were not wanted, old movies would not continue to be marketed and sold. Catalog titles are a very popular part of this market: people love old movies. More catalog titles are released every single week on disc, which clearly demonstrates to anyone with a rational mind that there is plentiful demand for them. Even the major streaming services routinely add older titles to their selections providing further evidence that people want older movies.

If people buy "Old Movies in quantity" clearly they must have wanted them which also proves that somebody wanted them. You should try reading your sentences out loud, maybe then you could grasp how absolutely illogical they are. The market for old movies exists for the simple reason that there is demand for them: a pretty basic business concept.
We all love our Movies, or else we would not be on this Site talking about them. I love Old Movies, and still have a Collection of Discs. In order to sell your Discs at a Dollar you need a Buyer, and right now they are not even worth that much. I know what you mean about collecting and buying Movies, I would have a gage if I was going to watch a Movie a couple of times I would buy it. I still go by that, but now it's Digital. As for buying in quantity I was referring to Steedeel. Bottom Line is Physical or Digital we love our Movies, and it shouldn't matter on how we View or Collect them!
