Maybe we watch different versions of Real Time w/ Bill Maher, but he is the most pretentious know-it-all on TV, and I'd say he's certainly more disrespectful to religious than religious people are to irreligious ones.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I would rather not get into a debate as I'm sure both sides are gonna stand their ground. To me all human beings are just that and not some other worldly being or all knowing supreme being. I put no-one above me and worship nobody, except for Shakira and Penelope Cruz .That being said religion is has caused so much death and destruction around the world but at the same time many religious people do great things. However you don't have to be religious to do great things. I am not lost so I don't need to be found and just because we can't explain everything (yet) doesn't mean it's because of god.

Bill maher is human and I'm sure he would be the first to tell you he is far from perfect and doesn't claim to be. He is simply an entertainer not someone you worship, he is a comedian.

As far as disrespectful, crazy and hateful religious leaders how about........... Gordon B Hinckley, Pope Benedict, Jerry Falwell, Louis Farrakhan, Ted Haggard, Warren Jeffs, Tim McGraw (not the singer), Joeseph Smith, Mordecai Eliyahu, Rod Parsley, on and on and on.

Guys we are simply talking about a movie, you have every right to disagree with it or hate it or Bill Maher for what he says. But I would bet Bill Maher would welcome any serious religious leader/person onto his show or one of his movies for a respectful conversation but they don't and won't, hell Mike Huckabee has done it as well as others, but most religious people can't be challenged or participate and give serious answers. On the other hand I doubt you will ever see a church invite a non religious person into their church for a discussion on faith and/or religion.

I would say the vast majority of religious people are not tolerant of the way a lot of people choose to live their lives and for no good reason at that. The non-religious are lost or evil and doomed to an eternity of hell. Doesn't sound too kind to me .
