Haha. Well he was a rebel in other ways. He seemed more like a drill instructor than a teacher. I think every student in the school knew who he was, and was afraid of him. Just not as much of a rebel as your teacher.

I'll have to check that one out.

Edit: Nope. Really good guess though, and I was hoping you'd be right. Since I don't really remember what the movie was about, I'm relying on seeing the main character's name and recognizing it, but didn't for that movie/series.

But this could come as a surprise to some but I've never heard of kids suddenly going into heart attacks or dying or whatever just cause they saw boobs on TV. Or those nude beaches and camps would be full of kid's dead corpses lol.

Yourself, do you think something bad would have happened to you if your teacher had not run to "protect' you from the prostitutes scene ?
Nudity is natural but violence is wrong.
wow, dude, go back in your cave... if you dont realize that kids shouldnt be seeing nudity, then you've got issue to deal with...

Hey, OP, maybe it's "Salvador", an Oliver Stone film from the early '80s about the death squads and US paramilitary involvement in El Salvador. It starred James Woods and Jim Belushi. Woods played a photojournalist, and I seem to remember some infamous sex scene involving some hookers. I'm going to IMDB to give you some character names.

I've contacted a couple friends from middle school that I keep in touch with, but neither had any idea. I may never know.

Like someone else said it could be Drug Wars The Camarena Story it's available in a severely butchered DVD,for it was shortened down for the DVD release! It stars Benicio Del Toro in a early role. It was released in 1990 with a sequel 1992 starring Crime Story's Dennis Farina. Nit sure if this is the movie though.

Do you mean Zefferelli's from 1968, with Michael York as Tybalt? That is without a doubt the best Romeo and Juliet ever made.

Good guess (and apparently good movie) but that's not it. The main character was an hispanic guy, and I think just about everyone in the movie was as well.

Yeah. I jus IMDB'ed it, and I can't imagine any grade school teacher being able to get away with showing it. Sorry

It's not "The Emerald Forest" is it? The following bits mostly fit that movie, and I could understand it being shown in a Social Studies class.

Some of the other bits don't fit so well but meh, whatever.

-The main character may or may not have gotten into some sort of drug ring (though for some reason I think he did).

-There is a scene where two prostitutes go up into the main character's room, which I clearly remember because my teacher had to run in front of the class and stand in front of the TV, while fast-forwarding through that scene.

-The movie couldn't have been released after ~1997 (because I saw it in 97). I remember it seeming like it was from the early 90's, so to be safe, I'd say the movie was from sometime between 1988-1997.

Nope. No names were ringing a bell. I'm pretty sure it had an -ez ending for a last name (which doesn't really narrow it down for hispanic surnames).

Title sounded promising, but doesn't appear to be it.

Yes, I think that is it!!!!!!!!

It's great how off I was on the whole drug connection, which caused a lot of the suggestions to be drug related movies. I hope for my own sanity that there was at least some scene in the movie related to drug trafficking or something. I was probably too busy drawing stick figures on my desk to pay attention, and just made up the plot of the movie as it went along.
