My theater still has the poster in the COMING SOON area. I feel I should inform them of their mistake, but I find it hilarious at the same time. They work at a MOVIE THEATER and they can't figure it out.

Yea for $7.99 I'll definitely jump on it. While not the greatest movie, I still find it entertaining.

I thought this one was fine. It was only like $3-4 used locally and definitely worth that.

It's a fun film and $7.99 is a great price for it. I saw it for free when google play was giving it away last year. After watching it though I immediately went out and purchased a copy. It's not a perfect film but it's entertaining and has some nicely creepy moments.

I agree with the others. It's not a bad movie at all and was effective. It's a shame the studio messed with it so much. I can only imagine what the original version was like. As usual for Dimension films, some deleted moments can be seen in the trailers and tv spots.

I really enjoy this movie. Maybe in a couple years Scream Factory can get it and add in the deleted scenes and give us a good Collector's Edition.

I've only seen the first three Amityville movies, part of the one where the lamp got possessed and from there I turned it off, and the remake. Do you need to watch any of these in order? From what I remember the second one was actually a prequel. Outside of that does viewing order really matter?

No, there's no real order to the films. And aside from the town of Amityville, the movie have very little to dow with each other. I mean, the original movie is an actual movie they watch in Awakening. 2 tried to tie in the original; but otherwise, the series is pretty much a bunch of stand alone movies with Amityville in the title.

Yeah for a lot of the films (though not all) the house itself is the only real link between films. Each can be watched independently of the others as they are all more or less self contained entries with small nods to the other films here and there.

I agree! I remember seeing the trailer years ago! And then it kept getting postponed, then more trailers were released, then nothing. It may have gotten a very limited one weekend theatrical release at best. Since I know a theatrical date was set(the actress even posted on her twitter to go see it), then suddenly it just showed up on home video.

Note to self: Never allow The Weinstein's to distribute your movies. Since they're notorious for this crap. Tarantino is the only one they leave alone. Everyone else is on the shelf until they remember they're sitting on a flick, and sometimes they drastically re-shoot a movie before release since they must have their input in them at all costs.

Bloody Disgusting is doing a in theater "Retro Nightmare" series this October and on October 4th they are showing Amityville:The Evil Escapes and Amityville: It's about time as a double feature.

They are new HD Transfers so maybe they will be coming to Blu-ray in the near future.

I like the movie, but man....Lionsgate really gave it the shaft by giving it as little disc space as possible, creating compression artifacts that doesn't help the kinda shitty visual fidelity at all.
