Seems weird that they’re including the 2007 Blu-ray. Aren’t the BDs that come with UHDs generally supposed to look the same?

There’s a lot of 4K releases that use an existing Blu-ray without the new transfer.

Default Anyone else’s disc spinning loudly?

Ok... this is weird. I just got this from Amazon yesterday and went to pop it in my Blu-ray player just now. The disc is spinning EXTREMELY loud. Like, louder than the sound coming from the movie! I tried advancing chapters a bit and it finally quiets down around chapter 6. Anyone else experiencing this problem? This is the only disc I’ve encountered this with. My Blu-ray player is an LG UP970 4K player.

I know. I just thought they’d include the 2013 release since it looks similar.

Probably included it for the different bonus features, that’s the main reason they had both discs in the 15 disc boxed set.

Exactly. LG probably figured people cared more about the UHD. Boy were they wrong lol

Have you tried other discs in the player after this spinning noise started? Aren't LG players known for making this noise? I hope it's just that disc and not a sign of trouble with your player. My disc plays just fine in my Philips player. Good luck.

The newer builds seem to fair better. The older one in the living room makes some noise, but has settled down a lot since we've had it. I have a new build in the bedroom and the noise is nonexistent.

As some other folks have said here, went to local Target where I had to ask them to pull it from the back, which they did. Haven't watched on the OLED yet, planning on this weekend.

I also saw Oblivion UHD for $10 at Target. Not a bad price, but wasn't sure if it was a good 4K disc. From what I've read tonight, not much of an uptick. Hopefully I chose wisely going with Halloween.

After doing some research, I think it is the player unfortunately. It seems to be a known problem and the disc plays fine in my brother's Xbox. Thankfully my player is still eligible for return as I don't want to risk encountering this with more UHD discs!

Just got done going through this. It is an excellent release and without question the best it's ever looked. Admittedly, I put my color setting on the warmest and boost the color to match the way I prefer the film. As a transfer though, this is near perfection. Detailed as hell, with tasteful HDR. It looks spectacular. Buy with confidence.

My copy has this annoying flickering during the night scenes of the film. Is anyone else going through the same thing?

Just popped the disc in and I noticed that flickering immediately in the opening scene. Not noticing it now in the car scene so we’ll see how it goes from here.

Edit: oh man, that early scene of Laurie in the classroom where you first see Michael in his mask is one of the greatest things I’ve seen on UHD. Looks perfect.

I think it has somewhat to do with my tv's hdr because I turned it off on my Samsung MU7000 and the flickering stopped.

Gonna do some troubleshooting tomorrow to see if I can resolve the mild flickering issue, but it's a relief to see a few other people mention it in the thread.

Anyway, flickering aside this looked great. Reminded me a lot of Bram Stoker's Dracula and Blade Runner in that it's a movie I've seen a million times but I felt like I was picking up tons of small details and textures I've never appreciated before. Really loved the brief period as the movie transitions from day to night. Just really lovely stuff.

So far I'd say Christine is still the top Carpenter UHD, but we're off to a great start with his films. I have The Fog and Escape From NY preordered and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

I figured out my flickering issue finally. It only occurs when I have the brighter HDR setting on. When I adjust the setting to normal HDR the blotchy flickering on the location cards in the beginning and the ending credits completely go away.

I definitely think that the way the disc was authored is messing with my TV though as the black bars look brighter than normal at the brightest HDR setting as well and that's never been an issue with the way I have my settings.

My TV is a TCL P605 by the way. Still loving this transfer though, it looks absolutely magnificant. I'm so pumped for the new one!

There is mild flickering in the black levels around young Myers mask. It looks source related.
