Default Michael Shannon in Revolutionary Road

Opinions about the movie aside, I must say I was very impressed with his acting in the movie. For the little amount of time he was actually in it, an Oscar nomination is a huuuuge thing.

While watching his character interact, there was a striking resemblance to Ledger's joker. It was very familiar and very impressive. The laughs and the dialog and the character exchanges are so similar and both so well done. Obviously Shannon didn't have nearly as much screen time as Ledger, and I do think Ledger deserves the award more. But just Shannon being nominated for the minutes he was in Revolutionary Road deserves big kudos.

I'll definitely see Revolutionary Road when I buy it on Blu-ray. And speaking of Michael Shannon in Revolutionary Road, you should see him in World Trade Center. In the film, he plays Dave Karnes, a real-life former U.S. Marine who located and helped with the rescue of officers John McLoughlin (Nicolas Cage) and Will Jimeno (Michael Pena), who were trapped in the rubble from the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Now that was a great performance from Shannon! But I'm still looking forward to seeing him in Revolutionary Road.

I'll definitely have to check out WTC then on the basis of your comment alone.

He was probably in the movie less than 10 minutes and he was by far my favorite part. He tore it up.

Are you talking Revolutionary Road or WTC? Or both?

Yeah it was so awesome how he was supposed to be the mental case, but in reality he was the voice of reason. Amazing performance.
