Wow, Studiocanal are boing berserk with their 4K restorations! Defo in for the Rambos and Cliffhanger.

Good on them too for offering the new restorations on all physical formats.

Will these releases include Dolby Vision? Doesn't Lionsgate release all of their films with dolby vision?

I was never into Rambo. Knew all about them after Stallone became a megastar. The only one I've actually seen is the third one (I think. It's the one set in Afghanistan).

So... I think I'm in for the first three as part of my "The '80s are the Bestest Decade Ever" phase of life.

Are the first two similar to the third?

they're all kind of the same, and yet different. Parts 2 and 3 are closer in style and scope-- bigger budget-- lots of explosions and action. Part 1 is different in tone and mood-- Stallone is more "human" in it versus the over-the-top "action star" vibe of the others. It's also smaller in scope set in a small town with Rambo being harassed by redneck local law enforcement types versus soldiers and armies!

Rambo 3 was practically a Cannon film, so it's acceptable.

HAHA!

I totally forgot the tank vs. helicopter scene from Rambo 3. Frankly, I've forgotten most of the specifics of the movie.

It really is trashy fun. Ronald Reagan's America in movie form. (That is, the change from "the Russians will kill us! nuclear war!" that we had in 1983 and 1984 to "America F- Yeah!" that we'd get just one year later from Top Gun)
