Bob Gale actually let the cat out of the bag about this several months/years ago but the hint in today’s Criterion newsletter confirms it:

Never thought this would wind up with Criterion of all places (Warner Archive, maybe), but----YYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! The DVD has been sitting on my Amazon wish list for years, but I could never pull the trigger, holding out for a Blu-ray release. Hope it comes soon! Yeah, Yeah, YEAH!!

![]() I guess the mind is the first thing to go! I don't know why I thought it might be with Warner. I don't think I've seen this since it first came out, but it made a huge impression on me at the time. I was just getting into the Beatles, and just starting to figure what it is that a film director does. I remember loving all the camera setups where you "see" the Beatles without really seeing them. John Lennon was still alive, and all was right with the world. I'll have to shelve this next to Criterion's A Hard Day's Night, of course. |

Nah, Shout's too focused on re-releasing titles people already have...which reminds me that they will be re-releasing Zemeckis' "Used Cars". To be fair though, it's good for people that missed out on the TT release.

I'll buy this in a heartbeat!
I'm sure we'll get the Zemeckis/Gale commentary from the DVD. It has a few gaps but is for the most part a good track. (Not nearly as entertaining as the Used Cars commentary, though!) It would be cool to get Zemeckis' student films, The Lift and Field of Honor. They're on YouTube but I don't believe they've been released in any kind of "official" capacity. And I'd love to learn more about Zemeckis/Gale's unproduced screenplays. |

Why not? Zemeckis is a great filmmaker, and not one of his films has been released by Criterion. I think every great director should have at least one of their films presented by Criterion.
