Let the “man up” man up for himself. The only question you need to answer is how exactly does this shut up pro streamers? None of his results is new news to anyone who streams. They’re perfectly aware and okay with it. So I’ll say again, he’s not going to sway the jury on either side.

The other thing you guys are forgetting is Adaptive Bitrate Streaming, where the upload or two way communication plays into your Streaming Quality. Wendell only has 25/3, and evidently his Streaming will suffer because of the poor upload Speed. I feel in order to get good Quality Streaming you need good Download and Upload Speed. Then Latency comes into play just like with your Games.

Netflix seem to be locking in their bit rates for HD, so how do you propose we get higher than they are offering? Magic pixie dust? (Trying a bit sarcasm there like our friends, just to be with the in-crowd).

Anyway, back to interactive. I read Netflix are negotiating more deals for interactive tv series AND a film. That will take directors, production crews and actors AWAY from traditional films. It will be pretty much like now when I read about a very exciting sounding film only to discover it’s a Netflix or Amazon exclusive and not available on disc. This will be the same. Everything will sound interesting then at the bottom of the article it will say ‘interactive’ and my interest will drop like a lead balloon.

I did, and you didn’t really give an adequate answer to the question that I ask Wendell. Who, probably has me on ignore. Don’t care. His results are tainted and serve no purpose except give him some smug satisfaction that he’s the smartest person in the room and above reproach in his actions.

What you are not forgetting because you never knew it is this: adaptive streaming needs very little upload speeds. The client needs to send the server very little info (just a few 188 byte packets). Adaptive streaming is only needed because of all the problems that can occur between a server and a client. Most other data delivery methods (physical disc, ATSC broadcast, DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T, QAM cable, etc.) do not require adaptive streaming.
