if I'm not mistaken the current sale price over at Amazon ($24.96) is the lowest I've seen it .... ordered. (Now to sell off my Best Buy Steelbook edition).

Still an amazing movie though and if you like 3D it is worth having, just don't expect too much.

Two opposing opinions about the depth. I was able to see it in theaters but not at home yet. I enjoyed the movie UP, funny movie and a nice story, but the 3D story telling was disappointing despite a few memorable 3D shots during the "emotional moments". There were layers of 3D, but can't compare to the strong 3D of Rise of the Guardians, Madagascar 3 3D, or Open Season 3D. Those are stunning examples of how Pixar needs to do 3D and put 3D storytelling to rest.

Consistent, strong 3D is the way to go. Dreamworks, keep it up. Hopefully Pixar will begin to compete with their own stronger 3D in their new films. Playing it safe with weaker 3D is boring if 3D is the goal.

So true....

They are getting shown up by Dreamworks these days but they don't care. They have cornered a niche in the unoffensive, politically correct, pedestrian side of the 3D market. Making the kind of 3D movies where they are just trying to do enough to please the kids and not offend the parent/grandparent who is taking them to see the movie in 3D. I believe some of their stereographers have even admitted to this before

There's a fine line between being tasteful and tactful and never pushing the boundaries at all. There's also a fine line between not being gimmicky, and being self servingly conservative. But when people stop going to see their movies in 3D, they'll just claim that 3D has died - that is, until people start pointing fingers at them

I have agreed in the past over this topic, and I think Pixar is being very blasé and ignorant that their 3D conversions and their new films, aren't pushing the visual element to maximum effect - my jaw was on the floor for both 'Guardians' and 'Madagascar 3' (I have yet to have that wow factor for any of the Pixar 3D films, sans maybe 'Monsters Inc' - which is their best conversion to date IMO). But there has to comes a point where the strong story aspect and the 3D have to be equal - Pixar isn't quite there yet.

Just stuck my copy on eBay,I don't really do animation and although I thought this would be fantastic in 3D, I just found it wasn't.

When you do see it Taygan, you're in for a treat! The movie is really emotionally touching especially the prologue montage. The 3d is good not excellent e.g. there's often a good sense of depth in scenes with some mild pop out moments as well. Story-wise this is one of Pixar's best imo.

Very true statement.

Every time we watch this movie, my wife looks over and asks if I'm tearing up? I say "Nahhhh, no way Jose'!" Then I eat a stick of beef jerky, flex, slam a beer, and do 200 push ups.

(yeah. It makes me tear up.)

Anybody knows the difference between the 2009 4-Disc Release (Blu-ray+DVD+Digital Copy) and the 2011 5-Disc Release (Blu-ray 3D+Blu-ray+DVD+Digital Copy)?

I got curious after reading back of both releases. The 3D release says, "7 Documentaries" while 2009 release it says, "8 All-New Documentaries - Including 'Adventure Is Out There' - Travel To The Real Paradise Falls". Got me wondering the differences of these two releases.

Does anyone know if the Italian version of this 3D blu-ray has DTS-HD Master Audio? There is a Master Audio logo on the box, but the back says 'DTS-HD ES (English). Could well be master audio just with bad description, but I would like to be sure.

Listing with box art below:
