at one point, david gordon green was going to do suspiria. what would that movie have looked like?

also, surprised at people who think there are good kills. most of them are off screen. which I guess would make sense in line with the first one. but we don't live in a vacuum and halloween has become like a friday the 13th knockoff.

yeah, there is one kill that isn't off screen. but it really wasn't executed well. and even if it was, THAT IS ONE.
[Show spoiler]i mean the twist was so bad, I was too angry and still thinking about why they would do that. and then the second shot on the aftermath kind of negated it. besides the fact that it's too late in the movie and you've already had a bunch of kills before that point.

Maybe it wasn't such a big deal in the fictional world of Haddonfield but I still find it strange how this one guy ended up with the actual murder mask without explanation.

At least if it was in an evidence locker or some kind of evidence bag it would make a little more sense. Hell, even drop a line about them writing a book and buying the mask. It's just not good story telling to leave things like that out.

Elderly? I wouldn't count Jamie Lee as elderly.
Now, if you put Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher in a slasher flick, that would be something.

I'm re-watching Halloween 5 and 6 on AMC now and the deaths are way worse.

They definitely said they had a friend or connection in some department which made attaining the mask possible.

Just to elaborate on it a bit further, there are as many as 7 universes in this series (with Halloween 3 being standalone, and the producer's cut of the sixth film and Rob Zombie's director's cut of Halloween 2 having different endings and some big story differences from their theatrical versions). This article breaks it all down, but yes just the original film is needed for catch up to this movie
https://m.ign.com/articles/2018/10/1...ers-multiverse

Personally, I think at least Halloween 2 should have been included (I felt the link between Michael and Laurie established there makes the series more interesting, and would make Laurie's constant fear about Michael more understandable than just someone who randomly attacked her 40 years ago and has been in prison since), but obviously that wasn't the direction the filmmakers wanted to go in.

They did explain it. The guy had a friend at the Haddonfield DA who got it from the evidence locker for him. Now if that was shit police policy or not is up for debate, but they did explain it.

I believe Trancas International still owns the theatrical rights to the first Halloween, so they'd probably get a good chunk of that money. Whoever was hosting the events, whether it was Fathom or someone else, would probably get some of it too.

Why isn't that money counted toward's the theatrical box office numbers

Of the original film? There's a few different reasons why box office sites don't count them. They're not full-on re-releases (they only play for a couple nights instead of weeks at a time), they're not part of the original run, they're sometimes not done by the same distributor as the original run (so not all of the money is going to the same original source), or sometimes the returns are simply not reported so BOM and other tracking sites can't do anything about it.

I would have to watch it again and really think about it to see if there was time for Michael to slowly walk outside and get the body and take it all the way upstairs. He is really slow and I'm sure would be making noise.

One possibility I thought the story might go in:
[Show spoiler]I thought Laurie might actually be the person who caused Michael's escape/the bus crash, so she would have a chance to kill him. If not her, then maybe one of her family members. In one of the trailers they mention that he has escaped and I think the granddaughter looks up as almost to say, "She went through with it," like she has talked about doing it. Then there is a shot where Laurie is there in a truck when the bus leaves. I wonder if they planned to do this and then changed their minds. This would have made Laurie responsible for all the deaths, so it would be hard to sympathize with her.

I really wish they would not have spoiled the closet reveal in the trailers. That would have been awesome to see for the 1st time within the movie.
Yep, at least half my audience was laughing their asses off when that happened. It was really bizarre, even though there was a funny line before it happened. I actually thought the shift from humor to horror there worked really well.

I was afraid they were going to "Luke Skywalker" her character and have her do things that would have ruined the character. Laurie was the only bright spot of the entire film. Boring...oh so boring.

I've been in an out of these threads just catching what other people think of the film (which I loved!) and I saw a few common complaints that I was curious to discuss further.

Michael is 61 and has been locked in an asylum: obvious complaint...how is he so strong and powerful if he's mostly just standing or doing nothing? Well, question, wouldn't the same thing be said about a 21 year old? Sure, he's got youth on his side, but unless his 21 year old self is also hitting the gym I doubt he'd be such a force of nature.

Also, seeing Michael during the day. Wasn't he shown quite a few times lurking in the daytime in the first one?

At least no one is questioning his ability to drive this time around! haha.

And regarding one death:
[Show spoiler]when the father gets killed the choreography seemed off on it. Like Michael was having trouble. Did they mess up and not have a better take or is that their way of showing his age since this is nearing the end of a solid day's killing spree?

Does anyone have a list of all the "Easter Eggs" for the series? I caught many of them, but I'm sure there were some subtle ones I forgot/missed.

Thoughts on the ending?

[Show spoiler]I thought it was a bit too abrupt and wasn't very satisfying. With Halloween 2, you saw him burn to a crisp and it felt definitive. You don't really get a satisfying conclusion with this one.

You know the house is on fire and he's trapped in there but you don't even see him catch fire. Obviously they did it so they can explain a sequel but I still would have liked more there.
