Very good sequel. Best overall Halloween film since the uber underrated Rob Zombie remake sequel and best classic Halloween film since the also underrated Curse of Michael Myers.

4/5.

Michael is a personification of evil, a force of nature, plain and simple. This was the case in 1978 and continued for each sequel. Read up on any interview by the master himself, there's no hidden message, no ambiguity. Myers was nothing more than evil on two legs, and can only be kept dormant, never completely removed or destroyed. They way he was stopped in 1978, is the same way he was stopped in 1963. He lost that urge to kill in that moment, a switch was flipped, he filled his quota. Whatever the reason, he is now biding his time waiting patiently for the day that he will continue what he started. They purposely left things unexplained in both films to make him more random and therefore terrifying.

I was 1 of 3 in my theater. Had a blast. The teen girls across from me, screamed at the right moments, and I really admired the one who laughed at the sight of the

was a fun and imaginative gag.

you know how long the movie is before you start. so what's the rush?
Remember the '90s, when people all over the theater were checking their Indiglo watches? New decade, same basic nuisance. People are rude.

I saw this twice today. I rarely ever go see the same movie twice theatrically, and I don't think I ever have in the same day.

Caught the first showing of the day, a pretty much empty matinee where everyone was dead silent, then I caught a Friday evening showing with some friends where the entire theater was packed and I got all the audience reactions.

Just speculating and creating some discussion...

So if the Silver Shamrock masks (the designs at least) are a thing, is it safe to assume that "Season of the Witch" could be canon too? Maybe another company bought the patents to the designs and kept manufacturing them.

As for the advertisement for the original film that Challis sees on the TV in the bar in that movie, it could have been for a TV movie made about the "Babysitter Murders" after all.

His kill scenes(violent) were very good, though.
Castle literally only plays him for the mirror shot. Everything else is JJC

Halloween 4: Laurie Strode dies in car crash.

Halloween 7: LOL, just kidding. She faked it.

Halloween 8: Michael Myers kills Laurie.

Halloween 2018: It was a bad dream.

Next Halloween: Laurie dies again.

Halloween After Next: Laurie comes back as a zombie with supernatural powers to beat up Michael.

Anyone enjoy the twist on one kill...

[Show spoiler]As we leave the babysitter house, we see that Meyers did the classic boyfriend kill with the knife leaving him hanging.

Unlike the original kill which is totally realistic (though still iconic), it actually works this time around because he's stabbed through the neck with the knife being big enough go through the neck and into the wall. It looked pretty cool.

So long as they keep making money, they'll keep finding ways to have Michael and Laurie fighting each other ad infinitum.

He was only in one scene and did the heavy breathing in ADR.

The way you describe him makes him sound like a comic book villain or something, which isn't scary to me at all. People are scary. The original is grounded in a reality that the rest of the series has simply never been able to duplicate. John Carpenter has made several of my all-time favorites. But I love his movies, not his interviews. He never even wanted Michael to keep coming back but he'll carry the water and say what he needs to say to justify the continuation of the franchise.

2.) Dead zone, no service.

Yes, but a boyfriend breaking it mid-flight is (slightly) less cliche.

If I had one major complaint seeing the movie is I wish I would have went in completely blind. The trailer just gave away way too much. It feels like they showed all of the big scenes in the trailer and seeing them in the actual movie, you already knew where it was going.

I just wonder how much better the experience would have been not knowing anything? I was going to try but ultimately had to watch the trailer to make sure it was the right tone since I've hated them all after 4.

There's no one true canon. There's 3 timelines.

This was something I was worried about after IT (2017) being ruined by ill-timed comedy and Danny McBride being involved. Comedy has always had a place in horror movies to relieve tension and break up the scary scenes, but placing comedy in the middle of scary scenes like IT (2017) did just kills the scene completely. I haven't read too many people complaining of this though.

I think less music and more silence often works much better in horror movies. The Strangers (2008) is one of the best example of this. Bone Tomahawk (2015) is another great example of this.

With a Halloween movie though the score has always been very prominent. I guess I'll have to wait until I see the movie to see how I feel about it though.

Halloween doesn't come out here until the 25th which sucks
