Odd they say a 1 year warranty for the LX500 on that site? Then that info is totally absent from Pioneer USA site. Looked at manual and spec sheet. Nothing?

I was thinking of that IntelliVolume guy when I saw this. He said his budget was set at $799 for a 4K UHD player. $699 is a respectable price for this player. Very good Oppo like build quality to. Pretty sure this is a great disc player and it doesn't have apps either.

I'm always leery of things like this kind of deal. Is it totally legit? Doesn't Pioneer Elite usually come with a 2 year warranty? Anybody with experience with this kind of purchase?

It's legit this is being supplied by a vendor at a discount ($400 off coupon).

Oh, this would be an absolute keeper for me with regard to what I'd be looking for in a player, Danny -- it's just that things have changed somewhat regarding finances (I think we need to buy a player we can put on our BB card) and I am leery of why this player is so reduced in price through Mass Drop...is this possibly a refurbished item, even though it's a brand new launch?

You have nothing to lose, they will just do an authorization on either your credit card or Paypal. It won't complete till the sale ends which is in 3 days as of this post. After that they will complete your order and you will wait for it to ship from Massdrop. They have an estimated ship date now of November 14th (it's just an estimate could ship sooner).

I don't think it's a scam but some people have had bad experiences clearly. If you feel like passing on it I understand. If it turns out to be a scam I am sure your covered by Paypal or credit card if you don't receive your order you will still get your money back.

Does anyone know if they have a set quantity of allowed orders? I am sure they do just asking in case I feel like biting on this deal myself.

That's a much better deal than an Oppo 203 on eBay.
What is the warranty on eBay? What is the level of assurance on eBay?
Would the Pioneer LX500 be safer if it was on sale on eBay?

Does anyone know much about the display tone mapping it has, compared to the Panasonic features? In the manual there are presets for the display type (TV Types), as well as a HDR SDR preset with target brightness (HDR-SDR Adj). I think it is nearly equivalent, just a bit coarser in only three brightness adjustments?

That's the old warranty. All Pioneer Elite products for the last few years come with a 3 year parts and labor warranty.

If one is not a authorized Pioneer Elite dealer then Pioneer most likely well not honor the warranty.

According to some sources it depends...regarding massdrop and their reputation.
If you care about warranty, don't buy; they have a poor reputation.

On the other hand people who don't mind can buy the Pioneer LX500 for $699 till the 25th.
Some people bought and buy audio products from them; they have no complaint. To the contrary they even support them.

Roll your own dices and make your choice; eBay or massdrop.
And of course Pioneer Elite's own website...for $1,099 with 3-year warranty. ...Or, $400 more for that extended 2 more years warranty. That decision is all yours and yours only. Some care some don't.

Yeah. There was a hifi store in Brisbane Australia as well as a member that posted in Stereo.net.au they had it, a couple of weeks ago, and hooked it up, but neither of them posted much info. One seemed to indicate it had no tone mapping, so not sure if they had looked at those settings. The site itself was expecting a review unit as well.

Actually it isn't, once you know what the markup is on these things. Would I jump on it, maybe not, because I do not know the company. Over on AVS several people ordered. If they get the product for that price, you know you are being screwed if you pay $1000. If they don't get it delivered for that price, they got screwed and we keep our money. In a week we will know who is getting jacked.
