I find it somewhat difficult to collect anime because collecting manga is my main focus so when a anime gets adapted from the manga, I usually just read the manga. As a result, most of the anime I own isn't adapted from manga.
Some examples of things I think ended up better than their source material: Parasyte Hunter x Hunter Few, I can't really think of anything else, I wouldn't really count anything currently ongoing because these can always go south before it finishes. |

Some anime are better than the manga. As long as they are faithful. Most aren't.
Shonen is the exception. No anime is better than the manga. Inconsistent filler crap most the time. Not to mention 90% of anime never finish the story so already the manga is the better source. |

“Yu Yu Hakusho” is perhaps one of the best Shonen adaptations; all killer and (mostly) no filler. I’d also wager “Lupin III”. Yes I know that the series doesn’t necessarily folllow the manga storyline at all but the characterization is much stronger.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Yu Yu Hakusho say otherwise.
Also, I seem to be one of the few people who don’t care how accurate an adaptation is. I only care that the end product is good. Thus, why I feel FMA 2003 is superior to Brotherhood in many, many ways. Filler is fine by me as long as the writing is good. |

I don’t know which one I prefer- both are great for different reasons. (No offense taken. I get that reaction quite a bit due to it being a contrarian opinion of mine) |

The 2003 FMA has no Olivier, so enough said.
![]() EDIT: I've always felt the Video Girl Ai OVA series was better than the manga. The OVAs wrapped everything up at an excellent stopping point with a great ending, while I felt the manga was unnecessarily dragged out and introduced characters I didn't care about. Kimagure Orange Road. The manga is good, but the anime brought Akemi Takada's character designs, Shiro Sagisu's music, Kanako Wada's songs, and Jingoro.
