I really wanted the Ub9000 but may still get this Pioneer . Not much time left

DV, better build quality, potentially better audio quality (pretty sure they use different DACs), true universal player, better warranty. I'm sure there's more but all that comes at a premium price.

True, but those people probably shouldn't be looking into this player in the first place. $700 is a lot of money to drop if you have poor credit and might not be the best player option.

Hmm. I wonder why the drop got cancelled before it ended. Maybe they just didn't sell enough of them. Some of the drops on there say "1 purchasers needed: for this drop to be successful, at least 1 members are needed to join. If the minimum order quantity isn’t met, the drop will be canceled". That's with 22 needed to be sold. They only sold 19 so yeah probably cancelled for same reason.

It was an alright deal the price will come down eventually on the unit. Anyway I feel bad for the 19 people that got disappointed and teased by this. It never mentioned in the listing how many purchasers were needed for the drop to be successful.

E-mail stated that due to an error the LX500 has been delayed, therefore the MassDrop has been cancelled...

it did not reach the number of buyers they were expecting (there were only 19 total). so now you have to request to see if comes back.

As Robert is pointing out, mass drop is not an actual retailer/distributor of the Pioneer UDP-LX500 product, so anything they say isn't factual as far as availability. If you go google shopping and check with other legit Pioneer dealers, you can get it now.

Why can't they just be honest and say it did not sell enough units so we cancelled it. Error in listing (lol) and now the unit is delayed (it's not, it's available right now). It would also help to mention how many units needed to be sold for the drop to be a success. I don't recall seeing that in this drop for the Pioneer player. Either way, disappointing for anyone wanting one at a good price.

I agree. I understand the bulk single buy is their business model, and if customers are aware, and communication is good and clear, there would be less issues. Eg, Order cut off is on this date, and we need Y number of units ordered, otherwise, we have to cancel or postpone or reprice etc.

Wish I could help, Ralph, but I just purchased the Cambridge player instead to replace a Panasonic 820 I wasn't happy with.

Did you decide on a player yet?

I have the Cambridge player for one set up but I wanted another 4k player when I eventually upgrade my projector. You'll love the CXUHD. I have a Sony TV so I'm still waiting on their DV firmware update (they said it's coming) so if I go Pioneer it will temporarily replace th Cambridge until it gets the update.

22.7 lbs - this must be a mistake. It looks more like 7.22 lbs.

The single data sheet says that. Same with this UK sheet. (10.7 Kg) and the LX800 weights 13.8kg which is 30.42 pounds.

Robert sells both LX500 and UB9000 if your into heavier players.

Yes John, I checked several sources about its weight, and then I looked at the internals and how the heck can it weight 10.3 kg? ...22.7 pounds, just no way unless the aluminum front face is real heavy, like 15 pounds heavy.

Maybe they forgot to fill the empty spaces?
_____

"The 1.6 mm-thick chassis base is reinforced with a 3 mm-thick steel plate Rigid Under Base."

https://intl.pioneer-audiovisual.com...cification.php (10.3 kg = 22.7 lbs)

This paragraph is helpful

Quote:
With its remarkably rigid construction as well as a lower center of gravity, the UDP-LX500 is able to suppress vibration transmission occurring inside the player as well. It features a double-layered chassis with a 3mm steel plate for rigidity, as well as an acoustic damper tray and ultra-quiet UHD BD drive.
Top view might not be as good to judge the chassis, looks like heavy front plate for sure

I was searching and found the info and edited my post before I just saw yours above.

It reminds me of the Sony X800 player. Or the Lexicon with an Oppo 83 inside.
Might as well put couple marble bricks inside. There are no tariffs on marble.
