The Day The Earth Stood Still Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the 2008 remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' to Blu-ray on April 7th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This three-disc set will feature a digital copy of the film as well as a copy of the 1951 remake (presumably on Blu-ray). Video will be presented in 2.45:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

I heard a lot of people didn't like it. I really didn't mind it, but the ending was kinda meh. I'll still pick up the Blu.

you guyz are crazy, yes the acting was sorta cheezy but still I thot this movie kicked butt.

Keanu was quite good as the distanced alien Klaatu.... but that was it. The film totally missed the point of the original. Absolute trash IMO.

I don't understand all the hate for this movie. We all know 9 times out of 10 that remakes are never better than the original so what do you expect? I saw this in Imax with little expectations and was actually surprised. It wasn't all about action which I respected. Will Smith's son was just annoying though. I'll pick it up when it drops below $15.

I loved the original movie.... Have not seen the new one. I was thinking,... for the 30 bucks to see it at the theater (Tickets, popcorn, drinks and one pickle) that it would be cheaper to wait and buy it on blu, which I will do,,,,, and like the above post,, only when it drops below $15.00

IMAX was a waste of money. I saw it in IMAX as well and I just didnt really seem any reason to see it like that, but that just my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe it is because I heard such bad things about it that when I finally saw it... it was better than I expected. I agree the ending was a bit "meh" but I think it'll be a good film to watch on BD.

All the remake did was substitute ecological disaster for the original's nuclear holocaust theme. I'm not sure how it missed the point. Potential nuclear holocaust was a much more timely concern when the original was released, just as ecological disaster is much more timely now.

Saw the "Sneak Peek" on the Original, and this one looks just like "I Am Legend" in my opinion....... an ABOMINATION TO THE ORIGINAL.

Just because nuclear war isn't as new as a fad as "global warming" is doesn't make it any less relevant today. But the latter is the more popular subject (thanks to Al Gore and other idiots), so I'm not surprised they chose this path.

Besides the little change in the reason behind Klaatu's visit, I was hoping it would be good, but was sadly disappointed. The movie was so boring that you didn't care about anything that was going on.

3 disc?

So one disc for movie and some extras(or no extras), 2nd disc full of extras and 3rd for digtal copy?

Didn't think it did well enough to warrant a 3 disc but hey, I am not complaining. I will pick this one up and the original.
