And also the repetitiveness. There was no reason to make the player fight The Imprisoned 3 times. (4 times if you count Demise at the end)

The only Zelda I never finished, because of the controls.

Too many reasons.
One being too easy, but at the same time, too hard...
I did a 3 heart run until I got the Master Sword, Now I'm trying to do the Sword Trials with the bare minimum of 13 hearts. I cannot get through them. It's pointless to do any more shrines and max out the hearts before you have the real master sword.

I've also not activated any towers, save for the Great Plateau as that one is required

Enemies are crap. they all pretty much follow the same move set and the types are repetitive.
Moblins - Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Stal, Gold (Hard Mode Only)
Lizalflos - Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Stal, Gold (Hard Mode Only)
Bokoblins - Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Stal, Gold (Hard Mode Only)
Hinox - Red, Blue, Black, Stal
Lynel - Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Stal, Gold (Hard Mode Only)
Molduga and there are only 5 of them.
Master Mode end game Shrines/
[Show spoiler]Blights
are impossible because of the regenerating Health and shit weapon selection

No real story also kills replayability,
No way to get all armours
Vastly empty world. No caves, only a couple of alcoves
All the people you meet are pretty much only near a stable or a town.
No real in depth side quests for anyone.

What I like about this game:

Since you can beat Ganon at any time, you can skip the BS missions (such as that stupid escort mission for one of the Devine Beasts)

What I don’t like about this game:

DLC pack 2 is pretty much useless if you don’t unlock all 4 Devine Beasts first.

Still one of my favorite games of all time. I love the story. Will probably play through a 3rd time this Summer.

So is it possible to play the champions ballad in master mode now? I haven't tried since dlc pack 2 came out but it only worked in regular mode back then.

I’ve recently got a Switch and I have to say I’ve put about 20 hours into this and I seem to be going nowhere fast. It just hasn’t clicked with me at all.

The worst thing is, I know there’s a fantastic game in their, I just can’t seem to find it. It’s the first time I’ve ever been made to feel that I’m playing a game wrong.

I enjoyed it most when I focused on finding the towers to reveal the map, going after the 4 divine beasts, getting. The master sword, tracking down the memories, doing any shrines I found along the way and then killing Ganon.

That gave it some structure and purpose for me. I finished that around 50 hours. I put like another 100 in it and the dlc, finding all the shrines etc and soured myself in the game a bit. So I wish I’d walked away after the credits.

Now that I’ve finished the Link’s Awakening remake I’m going back to finish this, took a break from it to play a traditional Zelda game again. It feels kind of weird going back after Link’s Awakening since I see more now all the traditional elements not present & miss them. The shrines just don’t cut it as “dungeons”. If this would’ve been more like the other Zelda games it probably would’ve been my favorite. I keep playing because it’s Zelda but if it wasn’t for that I probably would’ve dropped it & moved on. Hopefully the sequel brings back the old Legend of Zelda style just in an open world. The breakable weapons & stamina meter are some of the most annoying things.

BOTW is more like the original than any other Zelda game. In the original you could get through the dungeons rather quickly, same is true for the Shrines. With Twilight Princess, and again with Skyward Sword, the dungeons were getting ridiculously large and I had to take a break half way through because I found them boring. You don’t want to make a dungeon so large that the player is saying to themselves "When is this damn thing going to end?" which is why the Shrines were a welcome change. Short and straightforward, they took all the nonsense out of it and got right to the point, the puzzles.

I agree, I loved the dungeons and wouldn't have minded then but they needed to change it up. It was starting to get stale. I used to like the item in every dungeon but most of them never were used outside of the dungeon they were found in either.

Twilight Princess I really liked, one of my favorites. Skyward Sword though I didn’t like the controls & never finished it as a result. I never found the dungeons in Zelda boring, not even the long ones I’m still hoping the sequel goes back to having at least some traditional dungeons in addition to shrines.
