Yes, but what about sony's DV profile. If you check out the google threads and the chromecast ultra thread on AVS Forum, you will see people complaining that dolby vision is not working properly with chromecast ultra on sony tvs. Yes, you can get vudu hdr10, but that's it. Are you saying your chromecast ultra plays DV without purple hue? Have you tried netflix, vudu, ect with DV?

Mad Max PQ Very impressive, good HDR effects. On top of screen is two icons.

UHD and Atmos. with Mad Max movie on screen..

When I switch to VUDU HDX it looks like blu ray 1080p.

Im happy with VUDU CC Ultra to AVR to Z9D.

Casting Marco Polo, Rediculous 6, Godless from Nexflix... no purple tint.

Im at early testing this setup.

CC Ultra only gotten reciently. Most my time just getting Atmos 5.1.4 to work on new AV Gears.
To achieve my near perfect Atmos sound Bubble

Vudu HDX looks like 1080p because it is.

Casting those shows, you are likely getting HDR10 from the Chromecast.

Yes, there's no way that's dolby vision. Google never updated their profile. That's interesting your not getting purple tint. The reason this happens is because the profile has not been updated. It's much older DV profile that's not compatible with Sony's DV profile. I've had my CCU for almost a year and I've been wanting to sell it since it does not work well on Sony tvs. Refer to that link I posted, and you will see what I'm talking about. Also, it will say DV if Vudu is actually playing DV like it does on the internal vudu app.

Did CC ULTRA couple VUDU DV movies thru my Sony HX-ST 5000 Atmos soundbar to LG G6 OLED. DV Badge popped up. Magnificient PQ.
Then I did a spark with wires cables. Now only HDR10 Badge
shows up when cast to LG G6 OLED with CC U.

May have to return this CC U unit for Exchange.

Normally I power down all AV units before changing cables, etc

Yes, it doesn't work on Sony's I'm saying. It works fine on LG since they use the old profile that works with CCU. Are you saying DV works via vudu and netflix on your z9d? The reason I'm asking is I've been waiting for a CCU DV profile update since I would like to play movies via voice on the google home mini.

Why not use the built in and updated apps for Netflix & Vudu? DV without issues.

1). I know how to use the Action Menu and Picture Adjustments on my Sony Z9D and have known since I bought my first Z9D earlier this year.

2). When I engage Dolby Vision on my Oppo 203, I see extreme darkening on my Z9D that crushed detail in dark areas and swallows colors like red into black.

3). I have used the Pictures Adjustments to change what I see in DV, to no avail. The adjustments do not allow me to completely repair the PQ damage DV creates. The best I can get in DV mode is by changing gamma form my usual -2 or -1, to +3.

4). Examples: In Hunt for Red October when the Russian official walks down the hall just before he enters his office and says "Yah, yah, yah" to his staff, detail is lost to excessive black in that hallway. Even setting gamma to +3 still sees HDR10 showing more detail in dark areas while retaining solid dark colors. The general result is repeated in HFRO underwater scenes and several scenes I spot checked in Knowing.

My conclusion: Dolby Vision ruins PQ on my Z9D. HDR10 beats DV in every way on my Z9D.

I love the Z9D so much I jump at a second one when they cut the price to clear out inventory to make way for new model. I think DV might work better for oled and might even have been designed with oled in mind...just speculating. But I didn't get a Z9D to have it darkened like an oled even though I do all my viewing in a dark room.

Maybe I will get a different result on my second Z9D which is being delivered this weekend.
Do you have any other DV discs? I would test to compare myself but unfortunately I don't have that movie.

I did some testing with some Netflix with Ozark, a overall darker show and while the native app did look brighter I wasn't seeing any details lost using the Apple TV in DV and saw less compression artifacts and looked like a more natural image.

Nothing wrong with people preferring the pop at the expense of an inaccurate image, just a shame to see it happen on a flagship TV built with accuracy in mind.

I've posted a ton of comparison pics between DV and HDR10 on avsforum thread. It looks identical.

Sounds like a setting issue.

Yeah, I got my Matrix Trilogy 4K Blu-ray steelboxes in the mail today and popped in Revolutions and the even the logos at the beginning almost blew my retinas out the back of my head in Dolby Vision.
