On the subject of Josh Gordon, Brady stressed patience.

“It’s kind of a work in progress, and we just have to stay with it,” the Patriots quarterback said of his teammate’s development in the offense. “But I have a lot of confidence in him. When I throw the ball to him, he makes the play and good things happen.”

Just dropping this here...

In a little over four years, Tate made a massive impact on the franchise. He’ll leave seventh in team history in receiving yards (4,741), fifth in receptions (416) and 15th in receiving touchdowns (22), and he was the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions per game with 5.9 -- half a reception more per game than his running mate in the Lions' receiving corps his first two years with the club, Calvin Johnson.

ate has been the best receiver in Motown arguably since he stepped on the field. Prior to this year, the ninth-year veteran had never posted under 90 receptions in a season for the Lions. And he recorded three seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards.

Through seven games this year, Tate was targeted a team-high 69 times. He’s recorded 44 receptions for 517 yards and three scores in 2018 so far. Where Tate really excels is in yards after the catch (YAC). According to NFL Research, the Lions’ former wideout the most YAC yardage (2,736) in the league since 2014.

Was this move worth it? If the Detroit Lions were dead set on not giving Golden Tate an extension and going to move on after this year anyway, the trade makes sense. But if the Lions fail to get to the playoffs this season, questions will abound whether trading away your top receiving threat was a wise move.

Yes, Philadelphia is giving Detroit a 3rd round pick, for essentially a "rental" player. I get that if Detroit wasn't going to resign him (they should), that they'd be left with nothing in return... so essentially, Tate would have been a rental for us just as he is now for Philly. We can definitely compete for Playoffs but this move makes that whole outlook questionable.

Can someone please tell me why GB traded away one of their best players on defense?

Seems like it was based on these comments:

“Earlier this month, Clinton-Dix talked to Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal about the Packers defense scheme and how it will help him in the future. Clinton-Dix went on to say that he's playing the 2018 season like it's a job interview.

“Right now, I’m playing each and every game like it’s my last. I don’t think I’m going to be here next year,” Clinton-Dix said. “That’s how I look at it. I just (have to) be honest with myself. You’ve got to play it game-by-game. Whether we’re losing by 60 points, you’ve got to go out there and perform. This is my biggest interview of my career. So I’ve got to perform, regardless of what the record says.””

"We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." The trade is not a popular move but it is the right move for the future of this team.

I don't get it either. It's an unusually great move for the Skins though.

Defense looks very good but their offense's ceiling is only so high the way Smith's been playing. And I still think Gruden is more of a coordinator than a head coach. We'll see if this is the season he finally breaks through but I'm waiting for the wheels to fall off.

Jay is definitely not HC material.

Agreed. CT25 should be a solid contributor when healthy (especially since Alex loves his check downs) and Bibbs has been good in his limited playing time. But no single player or committee can replicate what AP's doing for them. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

They probably had no intention of paying him, wonder what your investor GM's will think of this.

Holdout RB Le'Veon Bell remains away from the Steelers on Wednesday.

It's our routine Bell update, as the Steelers begin the work week in preparation for the Ravens. PFT's Mike Florio brought up an interesting thought Tuesday after Bell wasn't traded ahead of the trade deadline; perhaps the sides have a "wink-nod" agreement that if Bell doesn't show up at this year, the Steelers will agree not to re-tag him next spring and grant him the free agency he so badly craves. It's clear neither side wants anything to do with the other right now.

They couldn't trade Bell even if they wanted to unless he signs the tag, so I don't get his point.
