That supposed to be a 4K remastered edition? Looks no different from the DVD

Yeah, i don't know what source material they used, but it doesn't look that impressive. The grain and compression looks better though.

Sorry, i haven't watched/bought it. I only kept an eye on the release since it was Jean Renoir.

Just watched this and I thought it looked pretty good, there are limitations with films this old and the source of the restoration is unclear but it's almost certainly an improvement on the DVD.

The extra is a 30 min piece with Renoir's biographer which I found worthy and engaging. As for the film itself I'd give it a firm recommendation if you're a fan of the director, heavy on the social commentary but packed with wit, humour and superb camerawork.

I'm bumping this in 2024 and wondering what chances, if any, this would get a 4K release.

As we are about to enter 2025, I'm tired of doing the "Blu-ray purchase based on a 4K scan only to see a 4K upgrade" dance.

I don't expect it to happen with many titles, but this is the great Jean Renoir!
