Default Night of the Living Dead Part II (2019)

BloodyDisgusting

Quote:
Long Unproduced Sequel to ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Officially Coming from Original Team

Fifty years later, a sequel is being unearthed. “That history and Night of the Living Dead’s place on the Mt. Rushmore of horror films is known by most horror fans and people all over the world. But, unknown to most is that in the 1970’s, the original writers and producers of Night of the Living Dead penned a sequel to their masterpiece. A sequel that inexplicably has gone unproduced for over forty years – until now. Living Dead Media has brushed away the dirt from this amazing follow up to a classic and brought together a great team to produce the new film.”

The plan is to release Night of the Living Dead Part II in 2019.

Interesting. Romero would be one of those original writers, so I wonder if this was one of the scripts found in his big stash of unproduced scripts his widow recently mentioned in an interview.

Is this the film his son, George C. Romero, was working on?

I believe that is the one his son was working on. But with this “new” one I wonder if it’ll still see the light of day.

Apparently there was a really interesting copyrighg problem with a zombie movie and i think this might have been the one. Apparently the copyright was never applied and as a result, people reproduced it without necessary permission or giving royalties. Hence the zombie genre helped to get even more exploded or something along them lines.

Hopefully that story isn't mlre interesting than the one they're dusting off

That happened with the original film.

Quote:
Night of the Living Dead entered the public domain in the United States because the original theatrical distributor, the Walter Reade Organization, neglected to place a copyright indication on the prints. In 1968, United States copyright law required a proper notice for a work to maintain a copyright.

hard hard hard pass. I'm still salty with the abomination of the 30th anniversary edition from "the original team."

There are already two competing sequels to NoTLD (Dawn and Return), each with their own sequels.

Might as well go for three. Bring on the batshit!

Thumbs down

By "original team," do they mean John Russo and company? Makers of the awful 30th Anniversary Edition, and Children of the Living Dead? If so, no thanks.

Also, the whole thing sounds suspicious to me. Two things that are in right now are: Horror movies either set in the '70s or '80s, or filmed in retro style; and retcon sequels like Halloween 2018. The "lost sequel to NotLD" sounds like a marketing ploy to apply both trends to this classic property.

It's commonly known as "Doing a Gene Roddenberry".

No, he means Return. There's no "competing" between Dawn and Day. They are sequential Romero sequels.

Return of the Living Dead is based on a book by John Russo, co-writer of Night. (How faithful it is, I cannot attest to.) It references the events of Night, though in a meta way, making it some kind of odd sequel / offshoot / follow-up.

Yeah, return even incorporates the incident that happened in Pittsburgh in the movie. It's not a true sequel, given the nature of th film and how the zombies behave, but it's fun to think of it being in the same universe.

Return of the Living Dead shares nothing in common with the book other than the title.

If anything, the book Return of the Living Dead actually is Night of the Living Dead Part 2 because it actually takes place after the first film and even features one of the minor characters from the first film.
