F*cking hell yeah!

Walking Dead movie's confirmed

Also, super excited about
[Show spoiler]Rick SURVIVING. That made me very happy. Andrew Lincoln did say his relationship with Rick is far from over.

I could see them pulling out leg here. Season 14: Old man Rick wanders into Alexandria, having survived the blast by getting blown into the water, washed to safety downstream.

I was watching a Twitch stream. It cut out at the bridge, leaving me to think that was where it ended.

This is in the comics. No spoilers, but it'll make sense in due time.

Looking forward to the movies, spin-offs, and backstories. Give me a Carol backstory so Melissa McBride can finally get her Emmy!

Also, that preview gave me chills. The, ah, shall we say.... "whispering" was just like I imagined it in the comics.

I'm conflicted. I'm glad that we may see Rick again one day but it feels like a cop-out. They want people to stick around in the hopes that maybe in a couple seasons we'll see him again, but will we really? I wanted to see Rick die and have this chapter be closed. I dunno. I knew something like this would be pulled, not enough balls to kill Rick and close this chapter for good. It'll be a good thing if we see him return one day but otherwise I'm not a fan of this outcome.

The episode itself was excellent, pretty much 10/10 for a TWD episode. My only real complaint is that I wanted to see Lori and Carl during one of Rick's hallucinations. I'm sure there is bad blood between Chandler Riggs and AMC now, but I still feel like Carl's character was unbelievably screwed over. It felt like Rick hardly mourned the death of his own son and we still couldn't even get a quick moment between the two? Just once more? Kind of lame and noticeably absent imo. Maybe Sarah Wayne Callies is busy at the moment, I'll let that one slide because we did get that awesome deleted scene between her and Rick back in season 4. Still, Lori and Carl are Rick's family as far as I'm concerned, not Judith and Michonne. He could have at least thought of his son and wife during what was seemingly the end.

The preview for the next three episodes looks AMAZING. The Whisperers, grown up Judith, Daryl seemingly not running away from the group, Magna's introduction, all of it looked incredible and amplified my excitement ten times over. Season 9 is shaping up to be Season 5 material, such a good season thus far.

So 3 movies with Rick Grimes as the star and a larger movie budget? Can that be any better?

Sounds like a solid plan.

To paraphrase another voice from another apocalypse, Andrew Lincoln will be back.

While the much hyped tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead would be the last fans see of the actor on AMC’s zombie apocalypse series, Lincoln and his seemingly fatally impaled Rick Grimes character have a future with the franchise. A series of AMC Studios original films, starring Lincoln and written by Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple, are planned to continue the story of Rick Grimes, with the first expected to begin production as early as 2019.

The Rick Grimes movies are among the first projects in development from Gimple as part of a multi-year plan for The Walking Dead Universe, which also includes other projects currently in the works: additional films, specials, series, digital content and more. According to Gimple, some of the stories will relate to The Walking Dead as fans know it while others will be standalone stories that break into new creative territory.

“We have a lot on the horizon – starting with a new epic featuring one of the greatest leading actors in television history and one of the best people I’ve ever met,” said Gimple. “These films are going to be big evolutions of what we’ve been doing on the show, with the scope and scale of features. We’re starting with the first part of the continuing story of Rick Grimes, and there is much more on the way, featuring yet-unseen worlds of The Walking Dead and faces from the show’s past, as well as new characters we hope to become favorites, told by TWD veterans and emerging voices. We want to break new ground with different, distinct stories, all part of the same world that’s captured our imagination for nearly a decade of the Dead.”

Starting with a TWD and spinoff Fear The Walking Dead crossover bridged by Lennie James’ Morgan this year, AMC has made it very clear they see a larger Walking Dead world coming. In September, AMC CEO Josh Sapan told an investors’ conference that “we have a plan to manage it over the next decade plus …a very careful plan.” With that mandate, to shepherd “potential brand extensions on a variety of platforms,” former Walking Dead showrunner Gimple was named Chief Content Officer for the brand back on January 13.
