The game is so technically flawed and full of weird glitches though.
I hate it how night time swiftly changes to day time in a matter of seconds or vice versa all while doing missions. They really needed that GTA approach of doing certain missions at a certain time of day so it feels more realistically to the gaming experience. |

Been running train robberies without getting bounties. Game is even better not giving a damn about honor. Carrying a lantern through a black train in the tunnel stealing all the passengers money is so fun. Been playing as a murderous woodsman on the second playthrough. He even tells Molly how bad he feels about the acts im committing haha.

Definitely a solid story line despite the flaws of the otherwise, great game in RDR2. I never expected what happens in Epilogue 1, which is pretty cool. Only big story disappointment I had is that Arthur got a letter from [Show spoiler] Thankfully I have a bunch of manual back up saves (autosave writes over your latest save file, so I shut it off), to see if I can activate that somehow. Maybe one of the stranger missions up north, which I ignored mostly in my effort to unlock the west. Quote:

That is something how Arthur sits down to talk to someone at camp, and says all the bad things he's doing. He's a bandit, so it seems odd he would actually have a heart for doing good things, as he steals from people and kills anyone in his way throughout the missions. The whole honor system seems flawed since he's a villain anyway, with maybe the only reason it's needed is to buy unique outfits in the store, and maybe get in less trouble with pedestrians. Have you noticed any major differences in playing as a more evil character? |

50% through the game.
While the game looks great & stacks up with the best games we’ve visually seen this generation, I’m finding the overall experience a chore as opposed to gameplay “fun” you’d think to expect from a RS title. I will finish the game by the end of this year as a goal of mine but it’s been a drag just getting to where I am now. |

Thanks for the help. I did all of that but it still won't let me use the gun on him because you're not allowed to use weapons in that part of town, even get a popup notification
![]() I believe is too late to save him anyway since a gunfight broke in the gunsmith much later in another mission. |

Speaking of food, has anyone fed the character enough to the point they get overweight? I'm guessing this isn't like GTA San Andreas, where you could make the character get very overweight. |

I have a lot of complaints about the game though because given the many years of development and the developer behind it you're set with this really high expectations.
I find it so irritating and frustrating running in tight spaces like bars, houses, etc and it doesn't help when the camera angles are so out of sync too. |

You have to race from Valentine to Rhodes is less then 5 minutes on horse to progress. Looking at the map the railroad was the most direct route. I ran that the entire way and thats when I saw the ghost train. It was coming right at me and I thought it was a normal train and moved out of the way, but when running next to it. It was all apparition like you mentioned, all white and ghostly. I wish I stayed on the track to see if it Arthur would just ride right through it. But it was still awesome! Taking the tracks I made it easily in the 5 minutes |

I feel like this at times as well. Simple things often seem to take too long in RDR2. When you get tasked to move this or that to a location on the other side of camp. I would not be walking in super slow motion to do that. A lot of the NPC animations take too long to be carried out. Playing cards is a good example. It shouldn't take the NPC that long to decide on a hand or for the dealer to pull all the cards back in for the next hand. After I've seen 5-10 deer get skinned I don't need to see that animation anymore. Let me turn the skinning animation off. I know these things are there to make the experience more immersive but this immersion is what makes the game boring for me. I been having more fun just riding around the map hunting and killing random animals and bandits. Maybe that's why I just started chapter 3.

You guys complain a lot for such an amazing game lol. Which open world game is better? Assasssins creed?
![]() Narratively the game doesn't change when you play without morals but the gameplay is very different in terms of doing whatever you want and not worrying about the consequences. Its freeing. |

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is actually a very good open world release. That aside, I don't get a lot of the RDR2 complaints either, the game is as I expected it would be so far, especially the pacing of everything.

![]() As for best open worlds, this is easily the most alive open world I've ever played in. I can respect people not enjoying it as much as me, but all the technical nitpicks don't hold a candle to the plethora of polished detail this game has to offer. Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn and Assassin's Creed Origins (not sure if God of War counts) were the last few open world games I played, and I loved all of them. RDR2 is its own beast. |

The moody music when you commit evil acts is fantastic. Kinda waiting on that vinyl release already. IT'd probably be like an 8 vinyl set for 300 bucks. Worth Last edited by LegacyCosts; 11-14-2018 at 03:35 AM. |

RDR1 and 2 are both great open world games overall, though RDR1 is the more polished title with fewer glitches on the first release (without patches or updates). Even so, I know I'll be playing RDR2 more often because of the even more amazing scenery and wilderness to explore. Unlocking the southwest was a big highlight, but I just wish it didn't take till nearly the end of the game to do. But I see why they did it that way.

But I definitely understand that you're seeing all of the great things about RDR2, and I've been there too in the past, with games like Fallout 3, where I was able to overlook the blotchy, muddy graphics up close, and marvel at how immersive of a video game open world experience that was. As a big fan of RDR1, RDR2 is a nice revisit to the old west and I was very happy to see John have a significant role in the gang and so on. Arthur is a great, well rounded character with a well developed story arch. I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of Dutch, but the voice actor was excellent making him into a gradually unsympathetic villain. Generally great voice acting with the exception of Jack, John's son, where his initial voice in the camp sounds like a woman who altered the pitch on the sound recording. Just strange they took that route instead of hiring a kid voice actor, since Rockstar has plenty of money. But maybe I'm wrong about the voice source, though it did take me out of the game a bit when he talked. Getting back into the old south west after unlocking it, I love the forest up there past Blackwater. It reminds me of Endor forest from the Ewoks Star Wars. Really awesome since it's a deep forest that goes on for awhile, giving you the sense you could get lost in there without a map or compass. The rest of the game, there aren't any forests that are so extensive as that one. |
