For big markets with multiple theaters that do e-ticketing, Moviepass is great. Denver is a great example. Lots of theaters, many with e-ticketing, and a number that get limited release movies. Smaller markets or those that don't have theaters with e-ticketing, Moviepass is near useless. Pueblo has 1 theater and it does not get limited release movies and takes until around the 800-900 mark before we even have a chance to get a platform release. If I felt like driving around 80+ miles to Springs (round trip), I could see something but at that point I'd be paying more for gas than for the ticket/subscription.
I don't expect every new release to be on it day one but they could do a rotation of them or something, which is what they were doing for awhile there until like mid-October. I think like the release week for Venom and A Star Is Born came out was the last time I saw wider releases basically rotating throughout the week. It was nice because I had options for my days off and not have to hope the movie I wanted to see was only avilable on a work day. Since then, and maybe those two movies' success had something to do with it as well as the holiday season approching, Moviepass has dropped regularly scheduling wide release movies. |

So, if I wanted to sign up for moviepass and go see HALLOWEEN 2018 this weekend, would I be able to? I just looked at their website and it seems to only have a list of movies (most of which I've never heard of)?!
Not sure what the appeal is... ![]() |

Just looked up my hometown. A medium-sized, middle of America, Illinois city. Population right around 100,000.
They have 3 movie theaters. They are playing Can You Ever Forgive Me? So yeah, it's not in THOUSANDS of theaters across America. But I feel like with 555 screens, most people will have a theater around them playing it. Maybe not people who live in a town of 1,000 people that is 50 miles away from any other civilization. But clearly MoviePass isn't for them. lol |

![]() Although, you might be a little late on catching Halloween. May just be completely out of all theaters by this weekend. Then again, that is precisely how you should be able to watch it via MP. I'm so confused myself. ![]() Last edited by ClownPrinceofCrime; 11-16-2018 at 05:36 PM. |

But honestly, it's too late in the game to take advantage of MoviePass. They'd just be taking advantage of you at this point. |

I'm not saying that the users who say nothing has been available for months are accurate, but MP's recent selection has made the service functionally useless for many people, given the whack-a-mole scheduling and lack of wide releases available on most days. |

And yeah, one of the biggest complaints is "there's no movies available that I want to see". To those people, I say stop being so picky and give something outside of major Blockbusters a chance. |

1) I do. I saw Fantastic Beasts 2 on Tuesday, and I'm going again on Saturday!
2) Why? They're not quality films. They aren't worth spending money on. Blockbusters are the types of movies that I can easily wait to watch on Netflix or rent at a RedBox. |

I think it's great to see both blockbusters and limited releases, but the big thing for me in a subscription service is choice of titles (this is why I can't stand people who rely on Netflix, their selection is far too limited IMO) and time to go see the movie. And once MoviePass started restricting that, I was quick to take the prorated refund and last couple months only bolster my feeling that was the right decision even if I could have still saved some money with them.
Anyway with A List and Sinemia (now entering month 3 of that, we'll see about continuing beyond that if price hikes but so far has been a good complementary service) in addition to wide releases, in just the past month or so I've also seen the limited releases (at least were limited at the time I saw them) Suspiria, Mid 90s, The Front Runner, Prospect, The Hate U Give, and Can You Ever Forgive Me. |

I understand the want for privacy and all, but I'm noticing that the people trashing this service don't even bother disclosing their locations. Anybody care to share? I'm genuinely curious because it seems unlikely to me that you're all in the Great Plains or something. Judging by the quality of the posts I can already tell at least one of you is a teenager who can't drive yet.

I am in PA close to the border with Maryland. In reasonable distance (say 30 mins) I have 4 theaters. But they all mostly play the same stuff, save for one smaller one that does indies only. I actually drive 45 mins to my AMC theater to use my A-list, but I see 2-3 movies on Saturdays to use up my tickets and make it an all day thing. During Oscar season, my small theater was the only one that got Call Me By Your Name (I try to see the BP noms every year).

Where I live is listed in my profile so not hiding where I live. There is only one theater in town, a Tinseltown, and unless a movies opens at at least 800-900 theaters, then it does not have a chance get it and no guarantee even at that range. Next city over has probably around 10 or so but is probably a 30-50 minute drive one way depending on traffic to theaters that regularly get smaller movies.
Honestly, most smaller movies I am fine with seeing at home on streaming or redbox since they don't have the whole CGI/special effects that come off better the bigger the screen. But if those are my only options, then am perfectly fine going to the theater to use the pass on them. If the theater here had e-ticketing or current popular films with Moviepass such as The Front Runner, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Boy Erased, or A Private War, I'd be all over them. But it doesn't/isn't, so hence the frustration. Weeks of that add up. For example this past cycle, I basically paid $10 for a single $5.65 ticket. |
