Also, given that both Google and Microsoft own majority market share in OS in their respective fields, they would have so much information at their fingertips if they so choose.

Corporations already control government through lobbying. We still have votes, and campaigns revolve around convincing people to vote for them, but those politicians are bought and paid for by corporations. They have the real representation, not us. Many committees are revolving doors of various industry board members and regulatory positions.

The entire idea goes back to Alexander Hamilton and the beginnings of the United States. The original question was about a *private* corporation taking over a public government. The Fed IS the government.

A private org. did take over the gov.
