Saw a lone copy of this, but with how much I've already spent this week I had to pass. $20 I probably would have gone for it.

That's what I thought. Another example here from Netflix' Lost in Space reboot: https://www.cartoonbrew.com/internet...ce-157908.html

Then there's this from Netflix' own FAQ, the VFX pulls (plates) must be at the absolute minimum of 3840x2160: https://partnerhelp.netflixstudios.c...lls-One-Sheet-

Netflix has even experimented with finishing some stuff out to 6K (yes, including VFX)

Then the UHD actually does drop in price to $24.99 a simple difference of five bucks. Coincidentally, the Stranger Things Season 2 UHD set completely SOLD OUT at my Target store.

Willingly, I go to Target in hopes of getting my refund.

I explain to the lady at guest services about the situation.

She tells me, "sorry we're not doing refunds at the moment. You can return your copy and exchange it for another copy at the new price."

Um. What?

First of all, there are no more copies available. Secondly, it's a Target Exclusive and I doubt there will be a restock. And thirdly, the sale ENDS on Saturday and you're not doing REFUNDS??

Like, how in the actual f*ck is that going to work?

Out of curiosity, I walked on over to the electronics department. All I saw were countless Season 1 sets and a few UHD copies of the first season. No Season 2 copies could be found. All of which were marked at the 19.99 and 29.99 price.

So is the Season 2 sale online only or what?
How about I send you a $5 bill and save you the aneurysm? Not that I care to give away free money, but I probably have that much in loose change lying around, and I just don't think it means as much to me as it does to you.

Not 4K, but Season 2 Blu-ray just went on sale for $15. Target also has 15% off TODAY ONLY and if you use the Red Card, you get another 5% off. My total was $12.74 with tax. Grab it today!

4K Blu-ray Review

I pretty much agree with the technical review. I finished re-watching it last night on the 4K discs and overall the quality is excellent. Save for a bit of noise, which most of it looks like film grain (and IMO just makes it looks more cinematic), there are no compression issues and the HDR, colors, and fine detail are demo-worthy for the majority of it. Haven’t checked out the regular blu-rays but from the review and other comments, the 4K blu-rays are the clear winner, with significantly less issues to boot.

Edit: I must also say that I enjoyed it more this second time around than the first time I watched it. And now episode 7 makes more sense where it is placed in the story, at least thematically.

Target seems to be re-stocking these online and in-stores so if you’re thinking about picking this up at all, definitely get the 4K version. You still get the regular blu-rays and if you don’t have 4K, it’s a definitely good future-proof, especially considering that Netflix seems to have lowered the number of 4K copies for season 2. Plus, Target seems to be running a 15% off for today so you’ll be saving a bit.

I know it's unlikely to happen, but I'm still holding out for a full set once the series has wrapped up in the hopes that the fix the horrendous issues with the Season 1 release.

And speaking from experience, that nice manager who went to the back to look for the small box with an onhand of one? She didn't really look for anything. If the item doesn't show a backroom bin location, no one's going to organize a search party to scour thousands of square feet for it.
I've worked in retail for over 24 years. You do not tell customers "Oh I don't know." You get off your lazy ass and go TRY and find it. Retail stores DO have stock of games and movies in the back.
I wasn't rude to the employee until she kept trying to brush me off and refused to even look at me when I asked a question.
I know how retail works. You at least TRY to satisfy the consumer instead of just..."We don't have it."
That's not how that works.

No need to be an ass about it.

Like I said, five dollars was no big deal and I accepted that by going home and opening it.

$24.99 for the 4k set (today is the last day) isn't too bad considering what TV sets normally go for from other studios.
Wow, glad I got it when I did! It just arrived today.

No wonder Lost in Space looked so amazing. Shame the writing was killing me. That show really rubbed me the wrong way. I followed it through to the end partially to see how bad it could get, and partially because it did look gorgeous.

This is not always true.

Proof - I was trying very hard a couple weeks ago to score a copy of Nightmare Before Christmas 25th anniversary Target exclusive because I wanted to give it as a Christmas gift for someone and I own a copy and the packaging is beautiful. Sadly it's already out of print and can't be ordered online, and no local store had it in-stock according to their site and Brickseek.

I called one of my local stores and asked if it's possible if they have any leftover copies and he said nothing is showing and there's none on the shelf. I then told him how hard I've been searching and he said he'd check out back. A few minutes later he came back to the phone to tell me he actually found a single copy sitting in the back still sealed! He put it aside for me and I thanked him for going the extra mile for me. Now I have it to give for Christmas.

So sometimes employees will indeed check out back, and sometimes they may indeed find something you're looking for. Of course it helps to be nice and not insult other employees.

The source material wasn't exactly Shakespeare.
If you want bad, watch the original.

This reboot is nowhere near the craptacular 90's movie or even the super campy original. Sure, it has some flaws and deus ex machina moments, but it is better than its predecessors.

Is there somewhere where I (EU/UK customer) can import the 4k versions for S1/S2 from? Can't find it on amazon.

Get a friend or relative to buy one from Target in the U.S. and ship it to you. Stranger Things on disc is a Target store exclusive. All discs in the sets are region free.
