AHA! You were the other one. You I would recommend returning your player. Your 820 shouldn't be that loud or have the disc spinning issue you claim you have with it.

I've had mine for over a month and watch a few UHD a day and besides the boot spin its whisper quiet.

Now it's Best Buy's turn to be back ordered while we get the next allocation.

I've got your item 1 and 2 covered. We double box every thing we ship and of the 350 UB820s we shipped to date all were delivered in 100% pristine condition and in a plain brown corrugated box.

We also can make the package signature required, or leave at Fed Ex depot or Kinkos for customer p/u. You can also leave instructions for the Fed Ex driver to leave the package by the rear porch or at a neighbor.
Best Buy is now taking orders again for the UB820. Shipping delivery for an order made today is showing a Dec 4 delivery. In store pickup on Dec 7 for the six stores in my area.

It's not worth 3x more than the UB820. My UB820 is pretty quiet when I watch 4K blu-rays. I haven't had a single hiccup in the one week I've owned it, and I've watch about 5-6 movies now.

I often have problems with starting Netflix via the 9004. It often doesn't load(buffer) further than 20%. Than it stops. I have to stop the player and put it in standby. After starting I than often have to disconnect from Netflix and connect again. After a few tries it runs. It is not a matter of poor internetspeed. The speed in my house using a wired connection is about 200MBPS. Once it runs the picture is very good. Better than the app build in in my LG Oled. Are there more user that experience the same problem?

Yes, this occurs from time to time with Netflix and my UB820. Buffering gets stuck at 24%, always 24% which seems kind of strange. I turn off / turn on the UB820 to resolve it.

Hello, can somebody tell me the main difference between the UB9000 and the UB820? Is it simply the better-quality DAC used in the 9000 and the dual power supplies? Are there any discernible Picture Quality improvements the UB9000 can offer over its cheaper cousin? What does the THX certification truly mean?

Basically I'm trying to decide if the 9000 is worth it over the 820 if I only care about PQ. I'll have a high-end receiver to transmit and decode sound for my home theater so I don't really care for the audio bells & whistles of the Blu Ray Player.

Thanks.

Also the LAN input is a gigabit vs 10/100 on the 820. Discernible PQ under pure out of box settings no but (perhaps this is only placebo) in my projection screen, it seems like the HDR optimizer works better on the 9000. Whether it’s worth the money, YMMV.

I read this german review and it seems to suggest that the UB9000 player is not quiet and can be heard from 2-3m distance. Link below

1. I can only hear the disc spinning at the beginning when the disc loads.
2. When the movie is playing (I tend to play at -20dB from THX reference) I can’t hear any sound. Of course when it is in a totally quiet room with nothing is playing (my room registers at 32 dB floor noise when the heater/AC is on) I can hear some sound. I haven’t experienced a single UHD player regardless of price that is absolutely silent.

Ok i hope atleast it is much quieter then the UB820 because this is the main reason i am buying the UB9000.

The UB820 is loud until about 15 to 30 minutes into the movie when the spinning of the disc slows down. But it is highly annoying and only somewhat better then xbox one x. It's pretty silent with regular blu-ray but UHD 4K Bluray spinning sound is simply not acceptable for me.

Is the LX500 even more silent then UB9000?

I want a premium experience and for me that means a pretty much silent player. I can accept some noise with initial disc access and chapter changes but not while the main movie is playing. Atleast not any noise that is heard 2m away.

I bet the 9000 is similarly quiet as the Oppo 205 and Pioneer 500 and the Cambridge 4K player.
...All are excellently built.

Thanks for pointing out the AreaDVD review/test. Even a comparison against the LX500 and CXUHD.

I hav problems that netflix suddendly stops giving out any sound. Only thing that helps with it is factory reset. It has done this now 5 times.. really frustrating, hopefully next firmware fixes this issue.

The LX500 is quieter than UB9000 but if you’re only looking for a quieter drive, IMHO paying $500 more just for that is not worth it. BTW, the UB9000 is quieter than the Oppo 205 I used to own.

Interesting that they mentioned the build quality as compared to the CXUHD (if I'm reading the somewhat confused translation copy right) being "slightly lower quality;" from all the pictures I've seen of the 9000, it looked like a tank something along the lines of an Oppo 205 or even the Pioneer (with perhaps slightly less height in its dimensions).

And, again, another review talks about the CXUHD's "picture noise," but I'm not sure if this is something going on with the Cambridge's MediaTek processor (were Oppo 203 reports fraught with talk about "noisy picture"?)…

To be honest, one thing I loved about the 820 was the "Ultra HD Blu-ray" logo splash screen when you stopped a disc -- SO much nicer than the "bearded male model" image Cambridge uses on its home menu screen. I assume the 9000 has the Ultra HD Blu-ray logo, too.
