anybody know what he was finally charged with?

I'm guessing assault on a law enforcement officer at the very least

ehh, he could claim accidental, emotional distress if he was upset and failed to put it in drive

I'm going to go with vehicular assault and attempted murder. When you mess with a law enforcement officer..... you can expect to be charged with the most severe crime possible even if the actual offense will only loosely fit in the parameters for that charge.

this apparently happens more than I thought; I just googled 'speeder runs over cop" and got all sorts of links with different examples

Well it says that his age is 70 so could it be senality? Could well be that.
