I'm going to have to go with SNES cause they had Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Metriod, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy III (or AKA FFVI).

Own both, have been collecting for both for the past year, love both. SNES has the clear advantage in JRPGs and first-party titles, but Genesis has a great library in its own right too, with plenty of awesome exclusives like Streets of Rage 2 (which can certainly make the claim for best beat-em-up ever), the three Shinobis, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Gunstar Heroes. Shooters on Genesis regularly outclassed shooters on SNES as well.
