Anyone with a brain knew that more Batman movies would be made after the current trilogy by Bale and Nolan. I have no problem with that on its own. What I have a problem with is that every director wants to re-tell the origin story the first chance they get, which bogs down the story. There are hundreds of incredible Batman stories that have nothing to do with his origin or Robin's origin!

Of course. Just look at how many versions of Batman they made over the decades. For instance, the Batman serials they ran at the theatres in the 40s and 50s.

They did that with Superman too.

OH GOD NO!!!!!
DON'T DO IT YOU MONEY GRUBBING #%&#&$#%^#&#&%!!!!!

Nolan's third should be the last batman for atleast 10 years!
Leave well enough alone!

Now if you want to make a justice league movie in 5-10 years from now, go ahead and include batman if u wish, but as long as its not the batman from the Nolan-verse. He belongs there, leave him there.

AND NO ROBIN!

Why not? They could hire Sean Hayes to play Robin.

A lot of people seem mistaken... if this movie was done NONE of the cast should return. This is an older Batman, Gordon, etc. Not to mention Miller handles Batman in a more outrageous way that some would not like being connected to the original trilogy.

This is also not an origins story.

I don't mind seeing more Batman movies but we all know that the cast and crew of other installments will most likely be different mainly because of money, etc. I think that if done right, this can happen. Harry Potter is a good model. So is the Bond series.

Here are my observations of what would make a long lasting franchise:
- Don't need to retell Batman's origin just continue with the story
- Expand the character base including Robin, Batgirl if relevant to the storyline
- Have strong plot for the movie with credible and challenging villain(s)
- For every sequel, build on the foundation of previous films
- As new characters, get introduced, used them when necessary, if not a lot at the introduction, may be in a later installment if the story warranted.

The Harry Potter franchise does this very well. Granted that it was meant to be a large series but this can work with Batman as well. The Bond series always portray Bond's adventures. Each "episode" is another adventure, another mission with some over all continuity.
