She's not going to. She's not that kind of person. We have to stop responding to her.

I can't say what he was like when he was young and owned a video store. I can say what the guy who owned my video store was like, when he was young. He acted, pretty much, like Bill, by the end, having been very respectful in his youth. In the beginning of my knowing him, he was happy to have a successful business and, by the end, Blockbuster had driven him out of business and he was ornery and felt like the world was against him. We continued to get along, as he opened a new business with his son, and I noticed that his response to customers had become entirely dependent on how they behaved toward him, with that ability, to be professional no matter what, having disappeared.

In my family, when helping to run a business temporarily, due to the owner's illness, I found myself noticing that some people are just horrible to anyone in Customer Service. They say terrible things and do terrible things. I saw a person yell at an employee because the color of her outfit made her look like some kind of offensive animal, sending the girl crying to the bathroom. I had to make it right, without sacrificing a repeat customer, when what I wanted to do was what Bill does now, tell that person to leave and never come back, because they are not wanted in my business.

Then there's the second issue. Here on this board, some people behave very badly and others egg them on and behave as though that is the kind of attitude that they like to see. Most people don't, but they aren't the ones posting. Bill seems to respond in kind, in that same manner, and I don't think anyone can blame him if he believes that this kind of behaviour is expected by/acceptable to his customer base, in light of how the vocal ones behave.

The reason I started posting on this forum, after years of reading and not posting, was that friends and I discussed what was happening and decided that a rational voice of support was not as common as it should be. People really liking the company seemed to be in the minority here, so, of course, Bill comes here and sees the anger and complaining without seeing what non-posters are saying about his company, specifically that we like it. I think it is possible that Bill has no idea that most of his customers are good people, the kind of people he knew way back when he first opened his video store, who love movies and appreciate the service he provides.

Again, I can't say you are wrong to feel how you feel about his occasional outbursts. Behaving badly on the internet seems to be a way of life for many people, and, for some, it even spills out into their real lives. I can say, I don't think he would behave in the ways you pointed out if he saw a different section of his consumer base in this forum and on his facebook page. But, that is just my opinion based on having known people like him, not based on knowing him.

I do think that DD of DF has great potential to be a positive influence on Bill. It is never too late to find more positive ways to interact with others. Then again, it is also never too late for people like us here, to learn to be more tolerant of the behaviour of others
.
You are really just repeating what I pointed out in my initial post. You feel his behaviour here is acceptable given that he has been in business a long time and is responding appropriately. In the year I have been on this site I have seen no civil discourse from the guy, just rude or unintelligible responses. It's no way to run a business.
But now you have me repeating myself, so I'll just agree to disagree with you on this subject.

I don't mind miribeau's posts. If I didn't want to read them, I would just skip them. I don't really know why everyone gets so angry over them. They are huge blocks of text, so they are easy to identify and scroll past if you don't like them.
I don't agree with everything she says, but that's what discussion is for.

I thought a troll was someone who bashes a person or label. Wouldn't shill or a plant be more appropriate?

I remember miribeau saying in one her many more recent posts that she's from L.A. or the L.A. area. How convenient to be a Dark Force or CR "plant". (If it wasn't this thread it was the CR or VS which she also posts).

Troll is someone who deliberately tries to disrupt, but they all work.

Most people get it right off the bat, in person, but we're online, and you have no experience of me, and I forgot to say it. I'm sorry for that. I don't make value judgments about people's behaviour, such as acceptable or unacceptable, in a context of motivational analysis.

Outside, yeah. If a person is rude or horrible, I'll label it and tell them to their face, as I've done on occasion on this site, but not inside. It isn't possible for me to analyze motivation while evaluating how I feel about behaviour.

Years ago, I thought Bill had anger issues, I do remember that. But, over time, watching the pile-on, I couldn't help starting to look at his behaviour as more of a rebuttal and, in looking for reasons when he would say something I found odd, I just started to see another people puzzle, my favorite kind.

At this point, I don't think anything he says is terrible or excellent, except when he announces a new release I can't wait to see, which is excellent. I think it is all an expression of something else, most likely related to others' behaviour toward him.

To me it is neither acceptable nor unacceptable. It is understandable. Some people look for excuses, I look for explanations. It is just a different way to get to the same information, so, I don't disagree with you at all, that you find his behaviour unacceptable. I just don't care to judge it myself, given the many reasons for it.

I do think DD can help him to improve, if by no other means than to appreciate him for what he does.

I'm partly from California and I've been forced to spend time in LA for various reasons over a lifetime. When in CA now, I am with family in SoCal and don't go into LA unless I have no choice. I remember the roads the way they used to be. As a Brit mutt, it was difficult enough to fit in there, but now it is a maze of walls of cars.

Can anyone actually check out the Swinging Barmaids and Steel Arena double pack? All I get is an option to add it to my wishlist, I'd rather buy it now...

Since you seem to be the authority on all this.

Explain the reason why Bill, being a business man in this field for several years, his posts are mostly unintelligible and incoherent when replying to customers. Not to mention, sometimes unrelated to the specific topic. Explain why Bill rarely answers anyone's direct questions. Explain why Bill shares his complaints(whatever you want to call it) about other companies ripping him off or doing him wrong with customers. Explain why Bill on a regular basis brings up being stuck with x amount of stock/unit numbers, what didn't sell, etc... Explain why Bill has never had a replacement program to fix a Blu-ray problem, while other companies(for the most part) do their best to fix disc issues. Explain why Bill NEVER thanks anyone for buying or complimenting his product in the Code Red thread ... or ANY other messageboard I've seen Bill post on over the years. Then explain why just about every other small label company, like Kino, MVD, Vinegar Syndrome, etc... have either representatives or the owners themselves fully engage with customers of this forum. Answering questions, handling problems appropriately, ... just all around professional and friendly customer interactions.

Thanks in advance.

Eh, that may be, but it's not like I am going to meet anyone from this board in real life. I'm just chatting, and getting info about one of my hobbies. I don't understand people getting their jollies trolling on-line, but I know it happens. I'm pretty upfront. If miribeau is laughing at me for "falling" for her role-playing, makes no difference to me. I've lost nothing. If she's genuine, then at least I treated her the way I'd like to be treated. As I would anyone here.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. So I went and purchased this instead.

Some review I read somewhere likened Centerfold Girls to Swinging Barmaids but better. Since it came with an extra movie and I could actually buy it (and for less money), I did. Centerfold Girls was quality entertainment with a great drive-in/grindhouse feel. I haven't seen the other film yet but I'm expecting good things. I'd recommend it.

Most regulars on the cult label threads here have now put mirifaux on ignore - eventually the LARP will implode because no one is reacting to it anymore.
