I think they had some real good announcements in 2018. Anything in particular you'd like to see in 2019? Always cool to see when people's most wanted titles are released.

One of my biggest wants that they should actually be able to get is Cry Wolf. I'm also still looking for the 13 Ghosts remake (never got the original double feature release). Not sure who owns Wolf Creek or Turistas, but those are another two I'd like to see. Usually I look forward to the previously unreleased or OOP stuff the most.

The kicker is that in my shipping email, my copy of Candyman should have shipped with these titles and it is NOT IN THE BOX!!!

I reached out to customer service days ago and wrote on their fb wall and have not heard back. Their support on fb said to email their usual channel for order support, but I had already done that.

So frustrating.
So, for those that remember this situation, I ended up getting a response from Shout Factory late last night as I'm sure they were going through their emails that had piled up over the holiday break. They apologized for the delay and have refunded me the entire amount for all 3 items purchased, which I did not ask for! I was simply hoping for them to send me my missing Candyman disc.

So, I am giving them back some of that money by re-ordering Candyman and some other discs. I am more than happy to continue doing business with them if they're willing to continue to make amends for their slow response time. I imagine with their restructuring or what have you, they must be getting pretty slammed as it is.

My order finally shipped yesterday, but I only know that because I signed into the website to check on the status. Are e-mail updates not a thing anymore?

Also, 23???

I placed my first order with Shout Factory last Friday for 3 titles. I didn't get a shipping notice when 1 of the titles shipped I'm guessing on Saturday because I received it yesterday morning. Then yesterday afternoon I did get a shipping notice for the other 2 titles with a tracking number. Hoping they will arrive maybe Monday.

I dunno...I really like Mars Attacks, but I don't see a lot of people in that cast who'd find it worth their time to talk about it. Big ensemble of big names, probably none of whom found their work on the film to be particularly impactful enough to take time out of their schedule to sit down for an interview on it--at least, not without a level of compensation that would probably guarantee a financial loss on the project in today's BD market. But we can live in hope...

Same here. I haven't been in this thread for quite some time and expected to see some new and great announcements but we got nothing.

I would also love to see Cry Wolf get a release. I think Wolf Creek is with Weinstein, so I don't see it getting released any time soon.

Why would we want Shout to touch this one? I'm guessing the star and director lineup wouldn't provide us with much in the interviews department.
It’s really sad because I love this movie so much, but the biggest extra it’s ever had on a release was like a trailer lol. I do remember them covering on Tim Burton’s episode of The Directors but I think that’s the most I’ve ever seen as far as retrospective interviews on the film go.

Speaking of pricing, here’s my order that I placed on Monday, and under it, an order I placed in 2016.

The other day I saw Shout's blu-ray of Murder by Death, the 1976 spoof on the classic archetype sleuth stories / films. Written by Neil Simon (The Odd Couple, The Sunshine Boys), the sleuths of MbD - barely veiled variations on the famous fictional detectives including Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Nick and Nora Charles (from The Thin Man series), Charlie Chan and Sam Spade - are "cordially invited to a dinner and a murder". They congregate at a remotely located mansion where they are greeted by a blind butler (and there's a deaf-mute cook too, and as you may well guess, the combination makes for some peculiar circumstances). These parts are played by a bevy of stars including Alec Guinness (irrepressible as the blind butler), David Niven, Maggie Smith, Peter Falk and, yes folks, Peter Sellers caricaturing to the hilt as the Charlie Chan character.
After assorted bits of comedy for the introduction and settling down of each sleuth party in their strange host's home they settle down to dinner, during which, in a nod to Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians / And Then There Were None, the host makes his appearance in the flamboyant form of Truman Capote and challenges each of them with the prize of a million dollars to solve by dawn a murder that is to occur at midnight (and I'm not sure he didn't say In Cold Blood), while failure will mean the loss of their reputations.

MbD is a no-holds-barred farce on the stereotype rigmarole of the whodunit. It has interesting elements, like the culture clash between the genteel fastidious sort of detective that Christie created and the hardboiled gumshoe dick. Some of the comedy like the scenes played between the blind butler and the deaf-mute cook for the dinner party is priceless. But given the premise and the starcast I expected greater sparkle. Beyond the introduction of the different sleuths, there is not as much fun from their interaction in the screenplay. And Peter Sellers' Oriental detective is problematic. I wouldn't have minded the racial stereotype so much (apparently Sellers had deliberately heightened the caricature to draw attention to the silliness of white people playing non-white roles) if it was actually funny, but most of it is just awkward. And while one understands that the script aims to poke fun at the ludicrousness one comes across in the denouement of many suspense stories, MbD's climax feels cloyingly overdone. I expected a comfortably funny film spoofing my favorite genre, but I doubt I will be revisiting this film too often.

Shout's blu-ray features a decent transfer although the image is not free of age-related damage and the compression (especially in the scenes of fog) is a little suspect. The lossless mono audio is fine within limitations, with a decent boost to the music. Extras include an okey-dokey short interview with Neil Simon (in which he mostly seems to describe specific scenes of the film) an audio commentary by a Mr. Gambin (who seems to refer to everybody as incredible and makes such wincing gaffes that I turned it off after a while).

PQ was good, not excellent and the AQ was good as well...but loved the movie. Laughed my ass off.

Interesting. Since I mainly buy the Collectors Editions, looks like the only went up ~$1 in 2 years. If only so many other things I purchase had the same percentage of inflation.
Nice list(s), looks like you’ve got some watching to do.

We've bugged them before and they replied with something along the lines of "we have no plans for these titles at this time". With that said Scream Factory will flat out deny that a release is coming, up until the day it's announced so bugging them on facebook for a title we already know they have isn't likely going to produce any results.

Nice list of movies!

A little sad though seeing the price differences. The $15.88 titles will never be a thing of the future again. But, a lot are similar like the $19 older to the $21 newer titles. But pretty much the same orders two years apart and a $100 difference in price (Taking in the fact that a box set was ordered recently). Ouch!

Anyway, I've gotten over the price hike. As we've seen during a Shout sale you can get the titles for $21.99 or $24.99. It is what it is. Just as long as I don't pay the full $34.99 or $29.99 MSRP, I'm good.

For me, I just want more Giant monster movies and the like. They’ve normally released this kind of thing in their Scream label.

They went up more than that ($4-5), the prices in the first order reflect the discount already factored in where as the second order doesn't have a discount.

A discount is a discount.
If you can get a release with a discount, which he did, then his cost(or anyone else’s cost FTM) would only be a very small increase.
I bought Urban Legend CE for $17.49, Valley Girl CE $18.67 and Holy Motors $16.59, all on Amazon.
So yeah, prices are pretty good if you just look for them.

The REC Collection is down to $44 on Amazon but I'm still not convinced this will be an improvement over the Canadian set. Opinions?

I have both sets. The main draw to the Shout Factory edition is that it's the complete film collection, all from one studio with a nice consistency across all 4 films. It's also the only way to get a region a friendly edition of the 4th film. If you are only interested in the first two films it's probably not worth the money to upgrade. If however you think you may want to revisit either parts 3 or 4 then it's worth the purchase price at $44. (Which is what I think I pre-ordered this for if I remember correctly).
