I don't understand what you mean by blanket statement. Where's the debate are you saying if you stand up close to a Projector 720p picture it looks nice and clear? Don't get me wrong from far away the projector picture looks great but I think the 1080p LCD looks better. I had comcast cable and I thought there 1080i Hd looked great until I saw Verizon Fio's. 1080i picture. From ten feet away both pictures looked the same but when you moved to witin two to three feet you noticed that comcast Hd looked like crap and Fios was crystal clear.

My old 720p projector didn't have that problem either (it just lacked some detail in comparison), you however still could not see the individual pixels (even when right up and close). It could however be different for my projector's have been diy'ed and thus are very different to most commercial projectors.

Hey I wanted to thank everyone for the great advice! I am planning on getting my projector and screen next week, so I will let everyone know how it looks once I get a chance to set it up!!
I still need to buy some other things - another blu-ray player and another sound system since I will be keeping my main setup in my back room. To be continued, and again, thanks all!! |

As far as screen size, you should try to get about a 30 degree viewing angle from your main seating position. I have a 102" Carada bright white screen and we sit about 13' away. Still looks good from the back of the room (28') and from the closest seat (on the side about 4'). No pixels- even from that close. Here's an article that may help: http://www.finishabasement.com/home_...creen_size.htm, and also a very handy viewing distance/screen size calculator: http://myhometheater.homestead.com/v...alculator.html. |

How do you mean a 30 degree angle? I'm a little confused. |

I didn't word that very well... What I meant was a 30 degree field of view. Meaning that the screen should fill 30 degrees of viewing area from where you're sitting. The viewing distance calculator I mentioned will give you the numbers you're looking for. You put in your diagonal screen size and distance from screen and it will give you the number...
