Yeah, no to Garfield. Hated his Peter Parker and hated his movies. Also, Garfield's Spider-Man showed diminishing returns. I doubt Sony wants to attach a now popular Venom to a Spider-Man that was showing a popularity decline.

I didn't think there was really anything wrong with the screenwriting. No different from any other big blockbuster Hollywood movie. Why complain about the screenwriting for Venom yet praise a movie like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom quite a lot and I own it on 4K (oh! the horror ), but I think the screenwriting is pretty lazy with this one. Much more so than with Venom.

‘Venom’ Sequel in Works With Kelly Marcel Returning to Pen Script

Following box office smash “Venom,” Sony Pictures is putting the wheels in motion for a sequel to the antihero adventure. The studio has tapped Kelly Marcel, one of the screenwriters from the first movie, to pen to script.

Sources close to the negotiation tell Variety that, although an exact amount couldn’t be unveiled, Marcel’s deal was a significant one. She will also executive produce the follow-up, which will see Tom Hardy return as the eponymous symbiote. Marcel was also a producer on the first pic.

I'd be very happy to see Garfield show up, but let's be realistic. It's not gonna happen. If they can't get Tom Holland, i think they'd be more likely to cast a Miles Morales than go back to Garfield or Toby.

This is great news though! I’ve watched venom a few times now and like it more each time.

If Spidey is in it, I’d be down for any of the 3 actors. I think it would only be fitting to stay with Holland though. I’m a big Garfield fan though as well

Just throw Hardy's Venom in a Spider-Verse sequel instead. I wanna see his bonkers take interact with all of the other colorful versions of Spider-Man/Women (especially Spider-Noir and Spider-Pig).

Good news. Lots of potential with this franchise now that the character/world have been established. Fleischer's never been a good director (Zomebieland looks more and more like a fluke).

As for bringing in Spider-Man, I kinda like the idea of it being Morales or even one of the girl Spideys (I dunno much about them). Don't try to integrate this with the MCU by bringing in Holland, and don't remind people of the ASM stuff by bringing back Garfield (I wonder if he'd even want to).

I really enjoyed the first one. Hope they can learn from what worked and what didn't and make the sequel even better.

Didn't think I would say this before seeing the movie, but I'd honestly like to see them continue with no Spidey in this universe.

They had fired Garfield even before TASM3 was canceled. That all leaked out during the Sony hack. He's not coming back unless there's some serious bridge mending going on.
