I don't really think you're supposed to put that much thought into it . . .

I think they pulled it off and I hope that we will see more like this in the future. I'm personally hyped about a possible 'Machete' film.

'Death Proof' was the weakest part of the night with even the trailers outdoing it. I get a kick out of going to the video section and seeing a newly released 'Don't' movie. The latest one was 'Don't go in the Woods... Alone!'. Before that was 'Don't go near the Park!'.

As for the Blu-rays, I won't buy it until it is released in one set, trailers complete, scratchs and all, the way it was meant to be seen.

Everything about it is classic

Even Death Proof, which gets a lot of unwarranted hate

Not to mention Death Proof is more of a grindhouse flick to begin with. I don't understand all the hate it receives. How can you not love Kurt getting his ass kicked and screaming like a little girl.

They were both great....I believe the only reason people rag on Death Proof is because its a dialog ladden movie with less action then say Planet Terror but when there is action, its awesome. If going in you were expecting action upon action, then you havent seen much Queintin then....hes always been known for more dialog, less action which is great because he writes great stuff!

I didn't like Death Proof because I thought it was crap honestly. Boring and the car chase reminded of the Dukes of Hazzard TV Show. They took all the chase scenes they ever had and pasted them together. So Taranatino and Rodriguez made films that they would have on MST3K. What is so great about that? lol

I must be alone. I found Death Proof (2007) to be masterful. Its understanding of 60's and 70's dialogue, 80's slasher formula: to be genius. I feel. People are so impatient. They miss its brilliance. I guess people don’t see dialogue, as more than words. When done right (like here), the pleasure is endless. Watch Rio Bravo (1959), Some Like It Hot (1959) to see my point.

Planet Terror (2007) is very good. But it's a one-trick pony. It has a great idea. But it never evolves. It never improves. By the end, you've arrived before Rodriguez has. At the station, seeing the train come.

That said I enjoy Terror, more than any other Rodriguez film. But I'm saddened so few understand the other.

I never had the opprotunity to see the entire Grindhouse feature (I was 17 and the movie was "R" in Canada meaning I had to be 18+ to see it) but I watched both Death Proof and Planet Terror by themselves.
I found Death Proof to be overly long and boring really, the car chase was cool but it takes way too long to get to the action that I wasn't interested anymore. Planet Terror on the other hand is a brilliant homage to classic B zombie movies. Everything was just highly entertaining and the action was gory and awesome.

Overall, for me
Death Proof
Planet Terror
