Dunno why everyone is gushing over the lame American Steelbook when the Amazon Germany Exclusive Steelbook is so much better. Only drawback (or benefit to some) is that it's 3D.
![]() It also matches the previous 4K Steelbooks so much better. ![]() Last edited by Vangeli; 01-11-2019 at 05:03 PM. |

Hey, some people don't stray that far from the 4K forum and might also want 3D, I'm only doing my part to stop people from getting the American Steelbook!
Also the Steelbook design above is Amazon Germany exclusive, the 3D release is available pretty much everywhere else except the US. |

Most of the movie, I could take or leave 3D, but that end credit sequence was awesome in 3D, and that's coming from someone who doesn't even have a 3D TV anymore because I just don't care about 3D, generally.

I only ever got into it because I happened to buy a plasma that had 3D. I bought a few 3D Blu-rays over the years when I thought the 3D in the theater was great. Gravity stands out, in particular.
By the time I went to buy an OLED, it had been a long time since I had watched a 3D movie, so the upside of getting the 2017 OLED's upgrades were worth it over the downside of losing the 2016 model's 3D. Again, I was never that in to 3D to begin with, so it wasn't really even something I gave too much thought to abandoning. The only thing I really lament is the ability to watch Gravity in 3D. It's probably the only (and I do mean only) movie that I think the 3D is absolutely mandatory for. Not sure it's worth watching without it. |

I bought a 3D TV years ago because (like most) I thought that was going to be the next big thing and I was 'future-proofing'. It wasn't, and I think I watched one movie in 3D. I still have the TV but it's now in the bedroom and hardly ever used.
