Just let this be Picard living on Deep Space Nine. Who wouldn't want to see Picard conversing with Quark or Garak.

I always hate that coffee analogy. Sure $10 by itself insn't a lot but often it turns into a dozen or two "just $10 things".

Just find a few people that also want Netflix and split the bill 4 ways, I am currently paying about £30 a year for Netflix instead of £10 per month.

Dunno if this was posted anywhere else, but some more bits of info have come to light. Basically the new show will deal with the aftermath of what happened to the galaxy when Romulus was destroyed by the Hobus star (the event that led to the reality-bending shenanigans of ST' 09).

Sounds promising for sure. And its a forgone conclusion that the TNG cast will make cameo's from time to time. Perhaps finally seeing Riker in the Captain's seat himself!

Some of that was already covered by Star Trek Online - the Romulans selecting a new capital, etc. Nice to know the Kelvinverse stuff is still to be acknowledged as canon to the Prime timeline...

I wonder if CBS might actually try to incorporate some of the history established in STO into the series? as I believe they have been working pretty closely with Cryptic on the game.

$5.99/month qualifies you as "rich" now?

Wow.

Which begs a lot of questions. What happened to Data? There are others, but this is bound to be a completely different TNG than what we're accustomed to.

Damn, I'm excited!

According to this possibly uncanon thing Data became the captain of the Enterprise-E. ( Though when I say Data I mean B-4 having become the new Data, or Data having come back in the form of B-4 in a robotic version of the TSFS thing, whatever you want to call it, because Data go boom. )

Vulcan was destroyed in the Kelvin timeline only. This new series will be set in the Prime timeline, Vulcan is still there in the Pime timeline. The destruction of Romulus in the Prime timeline was followed by a series of actions and events which resulted in the creation of the Kelvin timeline. The Picard series acknowledging the destruction of Romulus is an acknowledgement of events that lead to the creation of the Kelvin timeline. Picard won’t have a clue what went on / is going on the Kelvin timeline, or if its existence, unless they do a crossover at some point, as they did with the Mirror Universe.

Yeah. Think of it basically as how Doc Brown describes the timeline changes in Back to the Future Part II. In the 2009 film, the instant Nero emerges in the past and attacks the Kelvin, the timeline was split into an alternate tangent. The future he came from (where Picard is) remained unchanged but now a new timeline with drastic changes branched off in a different direction. It was more like creating a parallel universe than directly altering a single timeline.

That's not it at all: it just means that the original timeline still exists up to the point when Nero changed the timeline at which point it writes over the original one.

No, it doesn’t. The two timelines exist separately, along with many other timelimes, such as, say, the Mirror universe.
