Eh.. yeah, maybe not Cera. I mean, I wouldn't mind him, but there must be a better option. Perhaps Nicholas Hoult? He was born in 1989.

Famous people born in '89. It helped me pick someone.
I like Nicholas Hoult and could see him being the son of Weaver.

I dunno I guess people today don't care about keeping the original people in films they started and only care about if its got a title belonging to a set of films.
It worked like gangbusters for TFA though. Leia didn't show up until halfway through, Han got killed off and Luke didn't appear until the last shot of the film: kerching! That'll be two billion dollars please. Same goes for Rexy in Jurassic World

I reckon that's why GBIII with its 'passing the torch' angle has finally been given the go ahead, NOT that it'll make anywhere near that ^ kind of moolah but that this phenom of the modern-yet-nostalgia-filled remake/sequel (requel?) has shown that it can be done.

We also have 2 Chucky’s. Any continuation of the reboot is totally possible. Especially with universes and multiverses being used in a lot of things.

I’m shocked there’s a teaser. Dan mentioned in an interview once he pictured the ecto 1 up on blocks, broken down somewhere waiting to be restored. I amazed how close that is to his comments.

I’m sure he’s had plenty of legitimate ideas. Not just brainstormed thoughts. It’s really sad how Bill Murray affected things. Reboot aside he purposely held the franchise down.

One classic movie, a not as great but still damn fun sequel and a misjudged politically correct offshoot that really wasn't that bad after all said and done. Ghostbusters is a fantastic concept. My fear for any new movies is that a lot of what made the original great just can't be replicated in today's world. If this really is a direct sequel to the first two then it's biggest challenge is replicating the tone and feel of them.
This franchise is like an old man on life support and some of us have high standards like me for example, it's been on life support on film for a long time and i've come to accept it's gone, i'm just waiting for someone to turn off the machine.

I just want something new and fresh franchises as i support new franchises like John Wick.

Agree with that too and you agree with everything i said on just make new characters instead of recasting estbalished iconic cinematic characters like those, Freddy Krueger, Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Rocky Balboa etc.?

Any recasting would be an immediate "I'm out".
But that's not going to happen. All indications are that, unlike the 2016 crew, these guys at least aren't stupid.

I liked it a lot as a kid but the extreme Ghostbusters or whatever it was called was great for me cuz it was an extension of the first GB cartoon. Going new but totally building on what was there before and still using it. Not sure if it's aged well but I had fond memories of that show.

Something like that would be cool for an actual sequel. Make it a cool varied group, focus on the story. Hopefully it's good and etc.

EDIT:

I could never tell if I liked this theme for the show...

That's right, some people in Hollywood are against the idea of recasting purely cinematic original icons like for example Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale will not allow a remake of Back to the Future to happen even recasting Marty McFly as they know Fox IS the character and same for Lloyd as Brown as there are no substitutes and they have gotten the rights for Back to the Future to their estates/family and a "No remake" policy in their clause.

And you agree with everything i said about it's impossible to recast original cinematic icons compared to recasting literature/video game/comic characters?

It's his right to do so, but if they want a clear direction for GBIII then they need to omit him completely. If he turns up and says "hey, I'd like a cameo!" then they'd accommodate him - I would - but creating a whole new storyline that features Venkman will be on a hiding to nothing IMO.
Honestly make Egon and Venkman ghosts and be done with it, open the movie have Venkman killed in the first 5 minutes. Can use plenty of uncut footage for Egon and the aging and deaging techniques Disney has developed work well now. Harold Ramis deserves to be around for this, have Egon actually have contracted autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis which is what ultimately took Ramis, it would be a great way to bring knowledge to the disease and a great tribute to Harold that would not infringe upon his work or the Egon character

Thank you. I have always said this. I like Murray as much as the next person but he has always acted like a dick with the prospect of a new film. He was always the hang up. Fine if you want no part in it but let others carry on should they wish.

Well, in all fairness what he said in that interview months ago wasn't all that far off from what he had said many times before about making a GB3 "soon" and it never coming to fruition. So I can see why that didn't get a lot of attention.

Not the case any longer. Can't recall where I read it, but Murray sold off his stake in the franchise a number of years back now. There may have been something uttered when the Sony e-mail hack came about.

Unless an ouija board is involved and Harold Ramis is in this I am not interested. Even if they could bring Ramis back from the dead unless Murray, Weaver, Earnie Hudson, Rick Moranis and even Annie Pots all come back it just won't be the same.

They brought Peter Cushing back to life in Rogue One. They could do the same for Ramis.

The all-female 'Ghostbusters' movie directed by Paul Feig in 2016 was set in its own universe unconnected to the earlier films and will not have ties to Jason Reitman's new movie, which "will follow the trajectory of the original film."
