It's uncanny the number of times I've picked up something that's otherwise OOP or OOS and taken it to the counter but the disc somehow can't be found by the person behind the desk.

Staff are generally ok but some seem to be pissed off that they don't work in the apple store or have a real tech job. There's a guy in the Union St store who just cuts people off when they're trying to tell him what they want to buy from the display cabinet or window "Eh. You'll need to point it out to me or I won't be able to find it." Even if it's the only pair of fluorescent yellow headphones in the place.

I don't always appreciate the false bonhomie either. Or having to make sure they fetch actual disc that goes with the box and not just one with the same title.

And now, from Norwich, it's the quiz of the week!

Maybe you guys should get together and do your own version of Sale of the Century. You could substitute Speed Boats and Hostess Trolleys for Ltd Edition Blu-rays.

If you see The X-Files 1-9 Blu-ray boxset on the shelf at the Norwich store, that was me who returned it (bought it online) because it contained the first pressing Season 8 discs. You can still contact Fox to get the replacements though.

I told the staff but they must've thought I was off my meds.

I bought a 3DS at Cex and changed my mind no less than 24 hours later. Took it back, they said they could refund it but had to put it in for a warranty test first. Fine. Went back the day after and they said credit only or if I wanted cash I could sell it back to them (for less than half the price). Absolutely not.

The Blu ray section in the Norwich CEX has definitely shrunk recently. At least they've put the UHD's back in there own section again, they had been mixed in with the standard Blu-rays before.

Cannot be bothered to read back through, but I assume you are talking about the X-Files....

The original release had a problem with season 8, which was rectified with new discs.
Off the top of my head you bought the re-release, so you should be all good

Yeah in the original release the black levels on Season 8 were crushed to the point it was difficult to make certain scenes out.

After having nothing but good to say about CEX, I've not reached my first problem with them. Ordered the Jurassic World 3D + Blu-ray set off their online store, as I had given up waiting for it to appear in my local store. Arrived today, with the Jurassic Park 3D Blu-ray set inside. No trace of Jurassic World at all.

I ordered 12 Angry Men from them during the week for £4, it dropped through the letterbox this morning. The Criterion release...in pristine condition. Bargain.

After a bit of digging, it turns out that they only have one listing for the bluray on their site, I guess it's down to luck whether you get the Criterion or the old MGM release.
