Just have a full on command center that watches every single game - these guys call into the on-field refs whenever something should have been called, or not called. Make every play reviewable. I don't care how long it takes a game to be completed if I KNOW it's going to be absolute fair and does not change the outcomes, or has any impact.

Simplify the rules.. get rid of this possession catch BS.

Or allow coaches as many challenges as they want so they can challenge penalties, or lack of, without losing a timeout.

I wouldn’t mind laser technology for first downs and touchdowns.

It's logistically impossible, but kinda fun to entertain during Pro Bowl week.

A first down marker and goal line cam

They can just attach it to the poles the people carry around

Realistically we won't really need referees in most sports in the not too distant future. Technology will render them obsolete. Honestly, in MLB a robot could probably already call balls and strikes with 100% accuracy. Problem is sports leagues will always lag technology. That and referee unions will fight tooth and nail to keep those jobs.

Baseball is a sport where some of the officials believe they're above the game.

Basketball is the sport that's easiest to rig via officials.

Purists won't let the human element go away. I'm all for modernizing the games wherever possible, but the idea of going full-on tech doesn't sit well with me either.

Put lights in the end zone pylons and a small device inside the footballs that cause them to flash when the ball crosses the line (can do the same thing with first downs). The NFL is a Billion dollar business for f***'s sake, they have the resources to figure something out.

A billion dollar business that doesn't want to pay the (majority of) players or the officials.

Eh, you're going to have a hard time convincing me that most players are underpaid.

Why not? Believing we need a "human element" to officiating is patently absurd. If a better technology comes along in the business world that reduces errors and increases productivity it is adopted almost overnight, even at the cost of human jobs. That's how the real world works.

Trying to argue that we "need officials for the human element" when automated technology can and does virtually eliminate mistakes human being make all the time is like trying to argue self driving vehicles shouldn't be allowed (an inevitability), just because it's going to put cab drivers or truckers out of a job. Trying to stymie technological improvements has never and will never work for very long.

Compared to the average salary of a US citizen, no. But compared to other sports leagues and what they're putting their bodies through, yes. The NFL players union is weak.
