Oh boy. That's a pretty massive move right there. Only Nintendo would have the balls to come out and admit the game is simply not good enough and straight up publicly admit it has been canned. Other companies just ignore it ever existed and hope people forget about it.

I wonder how big a hole this has left in their roadmap now? Will they fill it with something else, maybe they move around some of the release dates for other games to fill it out.

I figured we'd hear something like this when you only get a damned logo for 2+ years. First thing that springs to mind is that games aren't immediately sub par so they've known this for a while. What the hell will their main e3 focus be is the immediate concern? I'm not really thinking Fire Emblem, Pikmin or Animal Crossing individually are big enough for that platform.

Interested to see how this affects their stock price. They'll probably need a Direct with some game teases soon to get in front of it.

So if Retro is taking it up now, who the hell has been working on it? Was it Bandai Namco?

I wonder, if they haven't got any other marque titles then maybe they go with Pokemon Gen 8 as their big E3 title. They don't tend to focus a lot on Pokemon reveals at E3 but unless they have something else that will be a total surprise I don't think there is a better game, at least they know it will be out around November unless it's affected by a release date reshuffle.

I wonder if Bandai Namco were the main developer all along. Was asking for trouble all along if that really was the case.

Hopefully it leads to a better game.

Geez you have to wonder now, will this thing even make it out for this generation? We're almost into year 3 of the Switch. If this is treated like a major AAA project, we are looking at a MINIMUM of 3 years of development time. However long games like Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW took to make, that's what you can expect it take Retro to make MP4, especially starting completely from scratch.

Probably end up being their end of life/cross gen game (Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild) unless they keep with the same Nvidia chips for the next system and our library plays on that.
