Fight your corner! Don't give in so easily.

Well, there's that quote from Ebert, "Your intellect may be confused, but your emotions will never lie to you." In that case you may be onto something.

I agree with many of the rest of you in that I'd love to see what a Nolan directed horror movie would look like. What sub-genre of horror would you guys like to see Nolan tackle? Torture porn?

Something gothic, like a haunted house story. Possibly a remake of The Shining; I've always thought he could do something amazing with that, and Cillian Murphy would make an awesome Jack Torrance.

What I'd really like to see him do is something completely unexpected, like a sports drama or a romantic comedy.

I definitely wouldn’t call myself a Nolan fanboy, but I’ve yet to be disappointed by any of his movies thus far, so I’m up for whatever he’s got planned for us. A nice big budget spectacle made by and starring lots of his regular collaborators and I’ll be buying a ticket, just a shame it’s such a long way off.
A big budget cyberpunk epic would be cool.

As repetitive as it sounds I'd kill for another sci-fi spectacle like Interstellar.

I'd like him to do another genre mashup like when he did Sci-fi & Heist in Inception, but less wordy. The world-building & rule-establishing through dialogue needs to be toned down.

A futuristic and psychological romantic sports dramedy?

Everyone wants Nolan to do a Bond movie, why not just have him make his own spy thriller? I'd be down for that.

It would be great until his sh*t twist of the ending is that the spy is actually sent back in time to spy on himself, in the name of love.

Maybe it's just me but I think Nolan already made his spy movie: Inception. It's industrial espionage in dreams, but still espionage!

I really doubt it will be R, since when Nolan was asked about the rating with Dunkirk he said all his blockbusters are PG-13 and he feels very comfortable with the rating. Maybe if he decides to switch up with a smaller film he will go R again later on.

Still, excited for this, all his movies are at least good in my mind (and can't think of other directors with at least ten movies and no misfires) with Memento and Dunkirk being masterpieces IMO.

Seeing that gem in IMAX was amazing.

With a lot of you saying that Interstellar was your favorite movie of Nolan's, you wouldn't expect Interstellar to also have the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score out of his ten movies. Wonder what the big negative criticisms were that the critics found?

The last good movie by Nolan was The Dark Knight. After that there was dissappointment after dissappointment. Dunkirk was the worst of all, and that's coming from historian who wrote his master thesis about events connected in some way to operation Dynamo.

Right? The amount of OHMSS callbacks with the snow sequence alone is immense. Factor in all the Bond-ian stuff with Lucius Fox as Batman's Q in the TDK trilogy and I'm not sure I even need a Nolan Bond movie. I've said before that I wouldn't mind a Nolan Bond movie at all, but now I think that race is run.

I dunno why but I think this next one will be Nolan's attempt at horror, or as much horror as one can get in a PG-13 anyway. Or perhaps a historical epic. (Yes, I'm basically ticking off the 'What did Stanley Kubrick do?' checklist.)

Thing is though, Bond 25 and Nolan’s next flick both come out next year, meaning if it’s definitely Daniel Craig’s last Bond, it would be perfect timing for Nolan to come on board and do his own thing with it, with a new actor, for say 2023/4. He said previously that he’s interested, but only when they’re ready for a new take on it again.

Who knows, it could still happen, and not that I think Nolan is god or anything, but knowing that he’s a big Bond fan, it would certainly be exciting to see what he did with it.
