I really liked the 3D on this release. The movie was definitely not as bad as the reviews and box office would lead one to think. I quite enjoyed it as a continuation of the first "Sin City".

Cool Got a good deal on this one

The local Family Video stores are selling (just) the BD3D copies of this really cheap. Apparently they bought the BD3D/BD/DVD packs, split the media out to rent them separately and ended up with way too many of the 3-D ones. I got mine for $2.99 at a sale in December (I think that's $2 less than have it marked normally).

I got the original box (well, liner at least- it only holds two discs) and the slipcover with it, so now I just need to wait a few months so I can get the regular BD with the special features on it and reunite it with the 3D one to have a complete package.

I think the movie looked pretty damn fantastic in 3-D, but it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Finally got around to watching this film today and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It has the same style and flair as the original though the characters probably weren't as interesting as the original, but it didn't detract from the story really.

I was very impressed with the 3D as well, especially at the start of the movie...there were a lot of good shots and angles which lent themselves to 3D very well throughout the movie. I think the comic book tone of the movie and the black and white really appeared to be made for 3D. And after watching this, I feel it's a pity the original film wasn't in 3D now...

Really hope they make another one...love movies like this which are different from the norm...great stuff!

I rewatched this last night. Very impressive 3D throughout and a lot of effort has been made to put some frame breaking and pop outs in there, along with great depth and layers. A world like this just begs for a great 3D presentation and this movie delivers it. I don't find this movie to be overly engaging and the ending is terrible but as a visual ride and 3D experience, it certainly delivers.

there's a lot to like in this movie. I just wish they didn't end the film with the 'Nancy' story, which was clearly the weakest story from both films (and by quite a large margin).

But the 'Dame to kill for' section is probably the strongest Sin City story (from both films IMO) and the 3D is done quite well.

Ironically, it was Nancy for whom I would kill.

I totally agree, her story was so dull and a real duff one to end on. It feels like the movie just stops rather than ends. The dame to kill for section was good though yes.

A great year that was for movies featuring Eva Green in 3D :P Sigh. I've been trying to get around to watching them, the Sin City pair and 300 pair, but sucha backlog...

Eva Green has been in a few 3D films now, including Sin City 2, 300 Rise of an Empire, and Miss Peregrine's, but also the upcoming Dumbo 3D. So 4 3D films all together.

But yeah, Sin City 2 was an interesting sequel, and I felt it overall worked better than some of the side stories from the first one. The 3D was medium to sometimes high medium, strong 3D layering, and it's important to note the high contrast of bright against sharp dark, can result in noticeable "ghosting" even when sitting at the perfect angle, if the 3D is strong enough, since the 3D glasses cannot block ALL light as some might believe. As a result, during strong 3D shots, some of the light from the opposite eye, peeks through the glasses.

Marv by Mickey Rourke, was probably a favorite character in the first film, though his action was kind of toned down here, compared to the awesome action of the first film as he escaped the building.

Through researching Mickey Rourke's role as Marv, I just discovered there will be a final Rambo V with Stallone in 2019. Cool. The last film, was great IMO.

Hah, yes she has been in a few. Only topless in the first two through :P

Not as many 3D as The Rock though. He must have the record. San Andreas, Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle, Rampage, Skyscraper, Planet 51, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Hercules, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Unfortunately, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was regarded as a major flop.

The Rock has a lot of 3D films, yes, with more on the way for 2019. Also add Moana 3D from Disney. He played a major voice role in that 3D film.

And a new Jumanji 2 3D film on the way for possible summer to late 2019. And Jungle Cruise from Disney in 2020 might be in 3D also.

Yes, that's true that not enough of the first film's fans took enough interest to support it in theaters. I wasn't a big fan of the first, but I saw both in theaters, the 2nd mostly because it was in 3D.

Same thing with Dredd 3D, which would've had a sequel by now, if more fans gave it a chance while it was in theaters. Buying it on disc is one thing, but seeing a movie in theaters is crucial for a film to have a sequel in theaters, or at least direct to video as with the Deathrace movies.

Rewatched this today, It’s a decent watch with the depth and mild pop outs here and there, black levels are fantastic, it’s razor sharp and the splashes of colour are very striking throughout. I really like the film to apart from the ending, overall a much better experience than some reviews suggest.

Yeah I rewatched both series back in July. 300 and Sin City. Great movies, all of them, and for the sequels, the 3d was awesome. And Eva Green, a bonus.

Watched this tonight -- I've been hearing great things about the 3D, no hints whatsoever of ghosting or crosstalk.. but I definitely noticed some. About 90% of the movie looked great but any backgrounds with high contrast (like a white light post against a black background) showed some serious ghosting.

It's weird because the whole movie is high contrast BW but other shots looked totally fine. I think it's just distant objects in the background.
This is on an LG OLED C6 and Oppo 203.

Again, 90% or more of the backgrounds looked great, but other scenes definitely had a blueish tint to them from the crosstalk.

There were also a few parts that looked to be video errors? Where there were black lines through the image. I didn't get a timestamp, but twice in the bar it happened for several seconds on multiple shots.

That's a problem when you can't provide a timestamp placement.
Just watched this for the sole purpose of detecting any ghosting that manifests. There is literally hundreds of opportunities where objects emit white lines on black backgrounds, but I am at a loss.

The 3D in this movie is extremely strong, emitting powerful intense sensual spacial triggers. I'm using an LG 65" E6 with an Oppo 203. Please take the time and post the locations, in order to be able to rule out the C6 you have, may have a filter alignment problem. Thanks.
