I like the film but the Mill Creek disc did the job for me I don't mind the 1080i transfer if that is the case. Me personally, I am satisfied with the Mill Creek disc and I only got it for a buck.

It does sound like this will be the better version of the film on Blu-ray though so please indulge.
Yeah it’s definitely 1080i. $1 ain’t bad at all. I imagine the KL release will be a big upgrade so I’ll definitely pick it up. I really like the movie so it’s worth the double dip.

Thanks for the info! I knew the second cut was on the French blu but hadn't realized it was SD only.

I suspect it's a similar master to the European VHS copy I have that I got Alan Sharp to sign when I interviewed him in 1995. Curiously he was okay with both cuts of the film (unlike Night Moves, which he thought was ruined in the cutting room) and was happy enough to work with Lancaster on his cut.

Looks like there is going to be stunning German BD of THE GOLEM, taken from a new 4K restoration.

And an equally impressive French BD (Elaphant Films) of THE MAN WHO LAUGHS.

Here's hoping Kino gets them both stateside.

That's great about both. Kino earlier said that they tried to get The Man Who Laughs from Universal but weren't able to.

I'd buy both of those (granted they're done properly).

To KL Insider:

Terrific news about Ulzana's Raid. I will gladly dispose of the German blu Ray from Koch Media and purchase the KL blu. Regarding The Brink's Job and Mary, Queen of Scots, I look forward to buying whichever of the 2 is part of KL's Universal deal. Both are must haves when they are upgraded to blu Ray.

Also, on Saturday I inquired about Winter Kills w/ Jeff Bridges. Let me try this again another way:

Would you be able to confirm if either of the following 2 titles are included in KL's StudioCanal deal: Murder by Decree or Winter Kills

Once again, for me anyway, both are must haves if/when they are ever upgraded to blu Ray. I hope KL has both of them.

Thanks again.

The Insider isn't confirming if certain titles are in the SC deal - all he can do is say if certain titles are with SC or not. And based on past responses I can at least confirm that Murder By Decree and Winter Kills are both with SC, so there's hope (though Murder By Decree could well be with Scream Factory).

The silence has been broken... Dark, absorbing and entertaining, this follow-up to The Silence of the Lambs is an audacious success. Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (Nixon) is perverse perfection in his return to the role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the sophisticated killer who comes out of hiding to draw FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore, Far from Heaven) into a high-stakes battle that will test her strength, cunning... and loyalty. Meanwhile, the good doctor’s only surviving victim plots a particularly nasty revenge. Drenched in baroque terror and hair-raising visuals, Hannibal is as compelling as it is shocking. Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, The Martian) served up this smash-hit thriller from a screenplay by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) and Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List), based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon). Ray Liotta (Unforgettable), Giancarlo Giannini (Seven Beauties) and Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) round out the delectable cast.

Wonderful choice! Unfortunately I haven’t upgraded to a 4K player, but I’ll be picking up the standard BD!

Well hopefully the rest of the boutiques follow suit. Day 1 for me as well. I don’t own the BD either.

The only thing I don't like about this announcement, is the font on the cover.

I did not expect Hannibal to happen let alone coming to 4K! Will a DVD edition be available too?

Very nice. I'll be going 4K for this one. Now we just need Red Dragon. Going to hold on the Canadian release of Hannibal Rising a little bit longer, would be nice if a US company could release it with a slip so it'll look nice with the rest of series.
