I can actually see this edition getting a new (4K) transfer. I mean, Universal have done anniversary editions that receive new and better transfers like Spartacus.

Universal released a better version of The Breakfast Club before Criterion’s release...

So obviously Universal still wants a big cut of Hughes’ impressive library before licensing them out.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles screams for a proper special edition. Whether it be from Criterion, Paramount or someone like SHOUT!

I'd like to see Paramount (or a boutique label) release ANY of the good catalog they've got that's been either OOP or completely MIA on the format...

So if this is supposedly coming from Criterion, what the heck is this release? A last-ditch quickie cash grab by Universal?

Would you expect anything less ? The problem though lies with the consumers, studios have learned that all they have to do is re release the exact same disc all over again and just put a cheap, crappy slip cover on it and people will go crazy and buy it for a second and even third time so they have no reason to put any kind of effort into a new disc...

I'd like to see the Ferris Bueller TV series (13 episodes) get released as well.

Walmart rarely carries Criterion titles in store, Target has none in store.

Universal makes more money releasing their own Blu-ray of the 4K remaster this way.

So a "two-tier" release by "class": one version for the unwashed public and another for more discerning enthusists. Welcome to 2019

Its been that way for years...

Single disc movie, two-disc collector’s edition.

Blu-ray only and Blu-ray combo pack.

Shout even has Walmart exclusive editions to get in their stores.

Assuming that this release isn't the same disc as the previous releases, of course.

That said, I'll be all for an improved release of the title, regardless of whether Universal or Criterion put it out. Now if they'd only fix Weird Science...

Bah, not even the new remaster? I guess I'm waiting for the Criterion.

I guess it was too much to hope for even a small amount of consistency from Universal.
