Happy New Year to everybody.

A huge thanks to the jolly crew at 3D Film Archive for all the good
work they've done. There's no doubt in my mind without Greg, Bob
and Jack and Thadd there'd be no classic 3-D on blu-ray.

JIVARO was released flat in 1954 and our new restoration is coming to 3-D Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on March 26!

Here is a new article by Hillary Hess: http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/jivaro

We have at least four - and possibly five - vintage 3-D films planned for release on Blu-ray in 2019. It will be our most productive year to date!

Following the December New York premiere of our SANGAREE restoration, we were delighted to receive this very gracious thank you note from the beautiful and legendary Arlene Dahl.

You will soon get to see Arlene's dashing husband Fernando Lamas on 3-D Blu-ray once again in JIVARO!

Check out this fascinating article by Hillary Hess for information on the cancelled 3D re-teaming of Arlene and Fernando in CHUBASCO. http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/jivaro

We remember Julie Adams: 1926 - 2019.

She was a class act in every way. May she rest in peace.

Kino has announced a new (2D) title today on their thread. What's interesting is that all of the films mentioned by actor have had blu-ray releases (most on Kino) save one.

I'll also mention it was a thrill to see Ms. Julie Adams signing her book at the Egyptian Theater in 2013! My best regards to her family.

When the settlers are cheated out of their supplies and cattle, Stewart crosses rivers, climbs mountains and out-guns greedy hijackers to ensure their survival through the first winter.

... sounds like an interesting movie. If it'd gone into production a year later, maybe they'd have given it the 3-D treatment! Here's hoping both Julia Adams and Rock Hudson will eventually(or hopefully sooner!) have their remaining 3-D titles restored for 3D-Bluray.

It's my firm belief that "Taza" & "Wings/Hawk" are on the track with 3dFA/Kino and will be coming sooner rather than later.

Based on what we know is not going to be made available to us those two are the best remaining golden age titles we have a legitimate shot at Warren

The side-by-side 3D Sensio DVD is sometimes found on eBay or there is the Australian guy. The 3D Film Archive did say the 3D was not restored properly by Sensio.

I don't believe that's actually side-by-side, but rather a totally different process sometimes referred to as "field sequential". It's based on the old TV system of interlaced scanning where the two eye views are assigned separately to odd and even numbered scan lines. It only works with CRT picture tubes and requires an active shutter glasses accessary system. Very low resolution of 240 by 600 (analog) at best. Several "Golden Age" and "Silver Renaissance" 3D films can be found in that format (mostly pirated).

"Bend of the River" a really good film that I've seen a number of times. I saw it when it came out (I was 9!) and subsequently viewed the film as part of a Universal/International perennial double bill with the Gregory Peck starrer "The World in His Arms," a seafaring adventure also starring Ann Blythe and a number of up and comers like Anthony Quinn and an acting performance from future "Brit" director Bryan Forbes ("Whistle Down the Wind.") The two make for a terrific afternoon at the theatre. "World" is only available on DVD.
The last time I saw this favorite double-feature in a theatre was in 1961 when I was just out of high school. Now, this grown-up "kid" would be delighted to Blu-ray his favorite "Class" Saturday double feature in my living room. Glad for "River." Now for "World."
And, yes, I would have loved to have seen BOTH of them in 3-D!!
