From a press release:

Dawn of The Dead is set to be released as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with HDR and will feature George A Romero’s Original, Unrated US Theatrical Release Cut (2:07), Romero’s Pre-US Release Cannes Cut (2:17) and the foreign edition edited by Dario Argento. There will also be a standard Blu-ray together with a Blu-ray release of Martin.

The scanning, colour grading and restoration of both films will be managed by Final Frame under the supervision of Director of Photography Michael Gornick.
The mastering and encoding will be handled by one of the entertainment technology industry’s most experienced specialists, David Mackenzie of Fidelity in Motion.

Slated for release late summer 2019, complete with brand new special features and more, Second Sight Films will announce further news via its social media channels.

If this is a limited release, this is going to be scalper heaven as the US ones will be just as interested in reselling it. The internet's going to break when preorders go up!

Why would you want HDR? I thought HDR was not on film and was added later on hence why many films look completely different with HDR rather than SDR. Surely after all this time and fuss so many of you made about having a real proper scan of the negatives you wouldn't want any more tampering going on?

It's true though right. Isn't that what happened with Suspiria? People wondered why there was no HDR and they said there is no HDR on film, to add HDR would to add it artificially hence changing the look of the film.....what it is supposed to look like.

Oh well. I suppose HDR on this release will maybe make it look better. One thing's for sure though.....it certainly wont look like it does on the negative. Unless you have a player that can turn HDR off.

SDR is generally a compressed version of the dynamic range of film, a HDR grade can bring out far more detail. Film is always graded to meet the requirements of home video technology, as there are limits to dynamic range and colour gamuts, but with HDR and a wider colour gamut we'll be able to see a far truer representation of what's on film. There is no SDR or HDR on film, they're done afterwards, but today's scanning technology can now extract far more detail and range than they could 10 years ago.

As long as both the SDR and HDR grades are done properly, everyone will be very happy campers.

Wow, late Summer? I was convinced they’d make this their big, flagship October release. Maybe whatever US label who ends up with the rights will do that, but either way I’ll definitely be going for the Second Sight.

HDR may be a little bit controversial in some ways, esp when done wrong,
but info has been there all along on negative, just takes HDR to unleash it,
so HDR is not really adding to it, more like unlocking
some could be overdone possibly, but this sounds like it's in good hands, so I think it will be done with respect to original

So how many UHD discs will it take to house those three versions Geoff? It's not possible to do branching with these cuts is it? Won't it have to be at least two discs?

Is it possible to branch audio-only? If it is, then all the music changes will be easy.

If not, then it might still be manageable would be very complex and might necessitate a 100GB disc.

The problem is that the Argento Cut gets rid of most of the library music and leans really heavy on the Goblin. That's probably beyond the capabilities of branching to handle.

You could branch the Theatrical Cut and Cannes Cut quite easily just have different audio for each version. It really is just added footage in the Cannes Cut, so nothing too complicated.

Yeah. They could branch the first two together on one disc and have a second disc for the Argento cut. But it might be easier/cheaper just to have a separate disc for all three. No idea what they'll do though.

Branching takes more time for the compressionist, so that’s why some releases have different cuts on separate discs. It must’ve been hell for the guy who did the Star Trek BDs with all the optional effects...
