Re-read my post and don't inadvertently change the context, I was referring to BBNM, and not SOAWN, and the comment made by DeFalco.

He's been ill for months so that's why he's been in Los Angeles for years? Please forgive me if I don't buy it.

I'm not saying you don't have a right to your feelings but if you really feel this way, are you also angry with VS? I know it makes me a crazy person to admit it but I love sitting there on VS BF and 1/2BF. I look forward to it for months in advance. Thanksgiving is only tolerated so I can have that experience. If DF wants to do it too, more power to them, but not at the same time. That would probably kill me.
That is not how it works with VS, as everyone knows the day that the sale is going active. It's known far in advance, it's on their web-site even when the site is down to change the pricing, and they send e-mails to everyone on their e-mail list. We don't know the exact time it will go live, but we know within a few hours. This Dark Force/ Code Red fiasco is a lame imitation of VS.

Az=Amazon.

Ah, I see that now. I read it as a statement about all that followed, including the issue of more copies than 200, which had been disclosed. So you think it is game playing to wait on BBNM? I get it. I can't say I agree. I think he should hold off and continue working with Bill on price and on getting more inventory. If you want to be an exclusive distributor for a cult label, while selling your own product, it works better to be the guy who has everything for 29.99, going back years, to be the guy who is reliable, not the guy with ebay prices. I think he made the right call holding off, but that's just me.

He's been in both places, up until his illness began posing a travel hazard. I imagine, at some point, he'll have his Washington inventory moved down, to join him. I worry that will happen to me, when I'm in California. Worry isn't the right word. I fear that will happen to me when I'm in California. I had a long conversation with family once, about the importance of not letting me die in California, and the various strategies they could employ to get me out, without using a plane.

That was how it worked with DF, this time. He puts the site up every Friday or Saturday, reliably. He announced in advance and posted updates. We knew it would be sometime on Friday night because he told us on Friday afternoon that it would be Friday night. He didn't announce it months in advance, because we knew the date it would be released, February 8th, and because he has established a nice pattern, Friday or Saturday. If the release date is February 8th, he'll open the store on February 8th. VS sticks to a schedule in the same way. I think a lot of people just didn't pay attention to the release date and DD's updates on his DF store's opening. When VS gives an update, I put the date on the calendar. I had February 8th labeled DF/CR so I had to get the date from someplace.

Is he in Los Angeles full time, and why? I'm pretty uninformed when it comes to him personally. I just remember always receiving my Code Red orders rather quickly as they came from Seattle, which is only a couple hours north of me.

Ok, now I'm intrigued, why don't you want to die in California?

I lived there full time when it was wide open spaces and roads you could drive, safely, at 85 miles an hour, practically by yourself. There were orange groves everywhere and, at night, it was quiet and more than half the stars you can see in the mountains were still visible, on average. Now, maybe 25 percent of the stars are visible, from the city. It is loud. The traffic makes me understand how people can experience road-rage events and how people can become atheists.

Beauty is replaced by buildings and noise and noisy buildings and people and noisy people and noisy cars.... I just hate it there, funnily enough for all the reasons some people I know actually love it. I don't want my last days to be filled with traffic and noise and people.

Interesting view, I've never really been a fan of large cities like LA and NYC. But LA has grown so large that it is artificially sustained by water from all over and without that LA in it's current form couldn't exist.

It depends on how high your standards are for entertainment. It is, to me, as entertaining as many of my favorite CR and VS releases, but, as an anthology, it suffers the pitfalls of being a series of shorter tales, with different characters and arcs, never as fully developed but, also, never given the opportunity to drag out and become boring.

For me, it is very entertaining, but what matters more is that the new blu has the fourth arc added. Basically, it is just four scary stories, some more entertaining than others, shared by college kids in the standard "we're at a cabin, let's tell scary stories" format. I love it.

If you enjoyed any of the horror anthology series, like Hammer or the one with Karloff, it is a safe bet.

LA in its current form doesn't exist. It has grown so large, hoards of people live on the sidewalks, in tents, in ravines. It's a tragedy, too sad for me to hang around.

There's a VHS rip easily accessible on YouTube, if you want to preview it. I can't really decide what I think about it. The movie's not scary (for a grown-ass man like me, anyway) and it's not really one of those over-the-top, "so bad it's good" crapfests that make for a good DIY MST3K with friends. It's very talky and more focused on the wrap-around story than the individual tales.

I am interested in seeing the previously lost 4th story, which is the only reason I would buy this (though it is also available as a stand alone on torrent sites now).

Fairly mediocre. I find it interesting as an example of 70s regional horror, but not really very good. I'm only tempted to buy the blu because of the inclusion of the missing fourth segment.

Los Angeles exists only because they sucked the Owens River Valley dry. The water wars as depicted in Chinatown are fairly accurate. My dad is originally from Los Angeles and I have a lot of family there and in Southern California. I don't like the climate; I was raised in the northwest and am acclimated to chilly and wet weather. I lived in NYC for a few years so I've had my taste of big-city living— I'd much rather go back there than anywhere near LA though. NYC has sweltering, disgusting summers, but at least the seasons change.

I hear that a lot. When the topic comes up and do my standard, "I hate the city", someone always says "I love New York". I, of course, hate LA, hate New York, hate Chicago, and so on. I don't think I've ever been in a large city and not hated it. I remember, as a girl, San Diego was nice, a little too warm but nice. Someone told me years later, even though it was technically a city at that point, it was not in any way a big city and didn't count. New York and LA and the rest are in a class by themselves. Well, I hate that class. Give me the little "city" that is really just a small to, at most, medium-sized suburb, or, better still, rural areas. I'm happiest when people are hard to find and your neighbor has to drive over to bum two eggs.
