The PS2 can play psx games better.

Just tried to play FF5 on the PS3, and it just fails completely, not even the menu corruption failure that the ps2 has, but to a not playable level.

A shame, kinda hope that Sony decides to do some software correction on the handful of titles that don't play, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I say keep it even if it is the EU version. If there goes some thing wrong with the PS3.

Helping those sick children is always the right thing to do.

Best idea I've seen. Thanks for the idea.

I SECOND THIS NOTION!!! WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA! Although, now I have no choice but to feel bad for having given my PS2 to my brother-in-law. Damn it! Thanks... thanx a lot!!!

I keep every console I've bought. I was born into a family obsessed with gaming. I inherited my dad's NES and Turbo-Grafx, my brother's Genesis, then I got my SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, and now Wii and PS3. I'm going to keep them all, including the handhelds (Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, DS, DS Lite, and PSP).

Jesus Christ, I've been ripped off by the amount of handheld revisions eh?

When it comes to PS2 though, I'm actually getting another one. I lent it to a friend in my dorm and he pissed on it in a drunken stupor. So yeah, for my collection's sake, he's buying me another one. The orignal though, not slim.

Sounds like my practice; I still have my old systems, and they even get played now and then. Check the collection in my sig.

How many old games in your vault?

I use my PS2 on a second tv to watch DVDs and play some games. Also, games like Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, and even Final Fantasy XII (FFX works fine, go figure) don't work with the PS3 remote. You need to either buy a new wireless controller for each game, an adapter to connect the existing controllers to USB ports on the PS3 and pray it accepts them, or just play them on the PS2.
Until I can test one of these adapters i will keep using my PS2.

I guess you can use it in a spare room like other posts suggest. An other good idea, specially if you have a minivan or an SUV would be install a little car TV (if you don't already have one), and use it in your car so that people think its cool and don't get bored.

...if you don't like those ideas just sell it on eBay or something. If you want to be nice I guess you can donate it to some place that helps kids in someway.

Actualy I wish i kept my Ps2 because of Guitar Hero 2, and Chrono Cross.

i have USB adapter for Ps2 controllers made by pelican. It works beautifully with Guitar Hero 1, and with my Mad Catz wheel which works on Grand Tourismo HD consept .

Why I Guitar Hero 2 diffrent? Well because normal mode don't work on GH2, which is strange because normal mode works perfect on GH1. Basicaly the buttons are not acurately binded in Normal mode. There is a switch on adapter specifically for GH2, however this is just a cheap work around to GH2's weird controller compatibility issue when played on PS3. It's hard to explain but it's practically impossible to play GH2 on any difficulty above easy (no hamer ons, says so on manual, have to press buttons when strumming or esle will not work thus holding down for a long line of the same chords will not work) , since the workaround is not really a good solution (vastly understated). Note that I aready can jam songs in Hard difficulty in GH1, so it's not my inability. Try it ! it's not posible no matter how good you are.

Chrono Cross freezes.

Try all games to see if they work fine on PS3 before selling PS2. It's a mistake that I know will haunt me for a while.
